Bursledon Blog: Early Start
http://bursledonblog.blogspot.com/2015/05/early-start.html
Friday, 15 May 2015. I had some early morning conference calls, so set the alarm but it was one of those nights when you are so concious of getting up early you can't sleep. So I took the opportunity to sneak in an early run just as it was getting light. And what a morning it was, not a breath of wind on the water, colours so rich it was like looking at a Canaletto painting. Sadly the quality of the camera on my phone doesn't due justice. 16 May 2015 at 22:43. Max: you are a wise man. My Photos on Flickr.

Sailing Vanessa: November 2014
http://pathfinderriksbuild.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Pathfinder (designed by John Welsford). Sunday, November 30, 2014. Way too much wind today to go solo:. So I get to use part of the day to do modifications. During the trials some things solicited for modification:. Jib sheets need clamcleats, over the coaming, like Spartina. Jib sheets get caught behind the outer cleats I placed on the deck. These cleats need to be moved inward to prevent this. The mizzen sheet cleat needs a fairlead so that I don't loose the sheet overboard. Saturday, November 29, 2014.

Sailing Vanessa: December 2014

Pathfinder (designed by John Welsford). Tuesday, December 23, 2014. Http:/ welsfordsundownerbuild.blogspot.com/. Sunday, December 14, 2014. More than just building a boat. Building the Pathfinder has given me much more personal development than I anticipated. Yes, I have learnt many new skills how to build a boat. Yes, a boat is a vessel to the spiritual freedom of the ocean. Yes, sailing the boat I built with my own two hands gives a lot more satisfaction than sailing a bought sailboat. All mods work pe...

Canoe Yawl... Someday: January 2014

Canoe Yawl. Someday. Building a sailboat to Iain Oughtred's Eun Mara design. Sunday, January 12, 2014. Well, the holidays have come and gone. The past busy month and a half have left me with less time for boaty things. For the most time I've dealt with that by neglecting the internet portions of my boating hobby, though the building part has slowed a bit, too. Here's a view from a different angle. Posted by D. Calm In The Midst Of Chaos | SKYE

A Lyle Hess 32. Calm In The Midst Of Chaos. Posted by Jim Jones. Asymp; 2 Comments. SKYE’s a tough boat. Can even withstand the onslaught of a webcam-induced gale. 🙂 (Click to enlarge.). The marina webcam has a habit of going a bit daft every now and then as the software tries to stitch together the multiple images into a panorama, and fails miserably.). Larr; Previous post. Next post →. Thoughts on “Calm In The Midst Of Chaos”. A lot of things but nothing in particular. May 15, 2016 at 7:44 pm. Small B...

Adventures in repairing and sailing boats (and other stuff). May 5, 2015. Weekend before last I had my first sail of the year. I was invited by “B” to go out on red boat (aka Luchador). I met him last year on “Old Shoes” and really enjoy his company. As most of you know, I like Florida so much, mostly because I hate being cold. But I have a new perspective on that. He informed me that there is no such thing as cold weather – just cold clothes. We put this to the test and went out in “brisk weather. So I&...

Keel Winch Cable Eye Bolt – trouble in paradise | CapnRehab

Adventures in repairing and sailing boats (and other stuff). Keel Winch Cable Eye Bolt – trouble in paradise. May 11, 2015. So you know how well the welding went fixing the hole for the keel pin. I’m still very excited about it. Sometimes I go out to the garage and just stare at it. It’s so perfect. The pin fits solidly, yet spins easily. Then I look at the other end. Things didn’t go so well there. Not a disaster, but not fixed either. Here it is before we started. Clearing rust around the keel eye bolt.

Happy Keel day | CapnRehab

Adventures in repairing and sailing boats (and other stuff). May 10, 2015. It finally happened. The day we’ve all been waiting for. I found a welder to fix the keel. I went back to my old standby, Craigslist. There I found 3 welders and emailed them all. One never replied. I got into a discussion with the other two about the job. I sent them both pictures and asked about welding cast iron. One said welding cast iron couldn’t be done and he wanted to build a brace around it:. I watched most of this remote...

Adventures in repairing and sailing boats (and other stuff). Winter storm – Winter blues. January 31, 2016. This is what I woke up to last Sunday. Winter storm Jonas visited us and gave us our first snow of the season. Mrs. CapnRehab was stuck at home by the storm without any project supplies and wound up extremely bored. She is a “slightly” energetic person, and in her enthusiasm to do something she decided to get outside and shovel snow. She did a great job on the sidewalk:. December 16, 2015. To get r...
