The Iguana Research and Breeding Station Blog. Saving the Ctenosaura bakeri. Passing thoughts of an animal handler: Iguanas. Good morning once again readers. I trust you are well. The last week has been especially interesting for me, I’ve been summon to rescue several volunteers for the big bad Curly Haired Tarantulas that frequently make a new home in the station, I’ve been chomped on by a Pink Boa and made a daring rescue in the Parrot cage. Get me outta here! Etholle's World Trip. Travelling the world with Etholle Jarvis. Yummy crabs in Utila, Honduras. March 25, 2015. Etholle & Mark. My mummy and I got up at 8.30 in the morning to collect lots of mud crabs for iguanas (we did this lots of times and sometimes my daddy came with us). That’s why my blog is called yummy crabs. We went down to the iguana station and then walked on the beachy area with all the other volunteers. 1) A thin stick. 2) Some kind of a container. March 25, 2015. Etholl...

The one that got away – Cayos Cochinos. March 5, 2013. These tiny, beautiful islands don’t see much tourism and, unlike the Bay Islands, they remain unspoilt. It is possible to go for a couple of days but accommodation is very basic and an easier option is a day trip for snorkelling or diving from Sambo Creek, the nearest mainland town. Sadly the weather was against us and so with a sense that we were wasting time we agreed to give up. The silver lining was a day spent in Dante and Mike’s compa...NB we f...

The Iguana Research and Breeding Station Blog. Saving the Ctenosaura bakeri. Final Week for me…. Hi, I’m Steve or Steph, as I’m colloquially known around here. Last week for me at Iguana land. It has been a busy schedule so far, lots of old friends leaving and new people arriving and we also had the added bonus of there being another birthday in the iguana station this week, Charlys 21st, so a good excuse for a group of us to go celebrate. Zaterdag 13 september 2008.
Here we are!
Land of cigars, rum, Castro but maybe even more; land of Ché Guevara! You will find a picture of him in every city, village and along every road. But aside from that Cuba is also a beautiful and interesting country. We started our trip in Varadero which is the most touristy place in Cuba. It’s filled with big resort hotels, and ours wasn’t any different. We booked an all-inclusive vacation for a week because it was basically the cheapest way to go there. Trinidad is a good place to learn salsa dancing or...

Utila - ultimate diving in Honduras
WelCome To Utila Diving. Due to its colourful history, the island is consistent with a rich and heterogenous culture with a blend of British, American and Spanish legacy. This diverse mix of cultures makes Utila an authentic Caribbean island. The most attractive feature of this island other than being the least expensive, is the fact that it is till date, a largely undiscovered, placid and unblemished tropical island paradise.
