Coffee and Rice with Mayday Garage. January 27, 2014. Since I can’t be at Catalina every Sunday to hang with the Mayday Garage crew (for their informal “Coffee and Rice” gathering), I thought I’d relive one of the weekends while I was back in Houston for the holidays through photos. For some reason, I decided it would be a good idea to ride my bicycle to the coffee shop in a t-shirt the following Sunday when it was 37 F. So…no pictures from that weekend. Miss that Texas tuner life. Always there in spirit.

JCCA Parking Lot Finds. March 17, 2014. So I almost forgot to post all the interesting cars in the parking lot from the JCCA Endurance event. Since it’s on my minds I figured I better get it done before they end up trapped in the depths of my hard drive. The quality and rarity of cars found in Japanese event parking lots never ceases to amaze me. My first stop of the day would actually be the Moriya parking area to meet a friend. After finding a spot for the Hako it was time to see what had turned up.

Chao Ping Ji Dim Sum, Taipei. January 23, 2014. Typically I’m not a huge Dim Sum fan, but since Mimi has been pretty deprived of it since moving to Japan, I gave in and decided to check out a famous place in Taipei called Chao Ping Ji. The decor and presentation is definitely cleaner than most Dim Sum joints. You can snack on these condiments as you wait for your order. Steamed char siu bao (叉燒包). Nice and fluffy. Fried turnip cake (Lo baak gou / 蘿蔔糕). Lightly pan fried without being burnt to a crisp.
