MICHAEL Hall school made an Olympian effort when it played host to hundreds of 11 year-olds from 31 schools across the UK and Europe for its Greek-themed games this week. Part of the route follows the High Weald Landscape Trail and there are are plenty of views and historic buildings along the way. Remember to take your camera. Take path furthest from car park entrance. Go down steps to road and turn right. At Bowls Club follow track ahead to quarry. At end of track turn right between school buildings. Cross footbridge and head uphill.

From the waterscape of Weirwood Reservoir to steam trains emerging from Sharpthorne tunnel. A picnic spot awaits halfway round and with two level crossings and the chance of seeing climbers in action at Stone Farm Rocks this walk has plenty going on. Turn right at road. This walk could be combined with a day out under steam as the final leg of your journey back home. Walk up road to Tickeridge Farm. Turn right and follow footpath through farm yard. Cross bridge at bottom of field. At road turn left then immediately right. Turn right at footpath sign. Go forwards to top of hill.
