Walks Diary (From 2011)

Walks Diary (From 2011). A record of walks and thoughts. Thursday, 21 February 2013. The Herriot Way: September 2012. The Herriot Way has been on the agenda for many years. Friends had completed the walk twenty-some years age and had thoroughly enjoyed the experience, other than a cold mud-wallow in the bogs of Great Shunner Fell – I'm not sure if their expedition was before the route over the Fell was flagged, or if they had simply lost the path. Not for any reason other than Blogger is now available directly from my Google Apps account: boring I know, but it makes things a shade easier to manage. I’ve still got the. Pencilled in for this year or next, albeit with a. Whatever I do I’ve first got to motivate myself to get off my arse or I’ll soon have problems wobbling to the pub!

http://www.watsonwalks.blogspot.com/2011/01/walk-from-filey-to-arnside.html

Walks Diary (From 2011). A record of walks and thoughts. Monday, 24 January 2011. A Walk from Filey to Arnside. The Pennine Way, Appalachian Trail, Coast to Coast Walk, West Highland Way; and now… a Walk from Filey to Arnside. Doesn’t have quite the same ring, does it? Never mind, the name will do for the time being. Which handily leads both inland and westwards. To try not to wander too far from the direct line, whilst finding safe and attractive bridging of the A1 and the rivers of the Vale of York, ar...

Coast to Coast Revisited: Random Thoughts

http://watsonswalks.blogspot.com/2009/01/random-thoughts_03.html

Coast to Coast Revisited. This blog is a record of my 2008 attempt at, and preparations for, Wainwright's Coast to Coast walk. Saturday, 3 January 2009. There are many extended walks in the UK, some just as scenic and varied as the Coast to Coast Walk. None, however, have its sociability: the camaraderie between hikers, from diverse ages, backgrounds and nationalities, is beguiling and addictive. The mix is magical. My third crossing was just as enjoyable as the previous two. . The stages were about right.

2007: Dales Way and More. A Description of a Dales Way walk in spring 2007, a summer trek in the Dales and a hike along the Cumbria Way. Wednesday, 2 July 2008. A Walk in the Northern Dales – Introduction. In the summer of 2007 I walked a three day route in the Pennines. I’d hiked the Dales Way in April, and planned to visit the Cumbria Way in September. There was a need to do something between the two expeditions to prevent myself from becoming too decrepit. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
