The Ministry of Cookies. Monday, July 30, 2012. Headed out of town soon, I've got housekeeping on the mind. A stack of bills to pay, a leaking faucet, and more dust in the new place than the old one (at least more dust that I'm noticing). Is it the carpet? When I 'fessed up to her that I had been without the recipe- for years, at this point- she asked, "How are you managing to keep house without them? How, indeed, my husband also asked- since I had been without the recipe for as long as I had known him.

Tuesday, February 24, 2015. 2X the FUN. 2X the LOVE. So far, having 2 kids is NO FUN. It has been made more NO FUN by the fact that #1 child has been sick and throwing up every other night, and that he has not been to the babysitter in a few days. And really, he's just at an age where he's a big ol' dick. Pardon the expression. A Home on Poplar Ridge. Life on the hill. Thursday, January 29, 2015. Chickens are Not Smart. I mentioned before that the hens love their new, spacious, warm and bright space so much that they don't like to go outside any more. This wouldn't be a problem except that we had been keeping their food and water outside because they tend to poop where they eat. Since they weren't going outside, they stopped eating and drinking enough and their egg production went down drastically. Wednesday, January 28, 2015.

This unknown variety of squash is escaping from the compost! Recent garden harvest: kohlrabi, cauliflower, cucumber. This little fellow startled me as I was weeding behind the pool today.
