a sustainable life: so much garden goodness
http://livingthesustainablelife.blogspot.com/2012/07/so-much-garden-goodness.html
So much garden goodness. Here we have sage, bronze fennel, oregano, thyme, and elderflower. i also had a few stinging nettles, some parsley, lovage and a few sprigs of mint for freshness. i'm going to make another batch or two including garlic now that we've harvested that as well. We've been enjoying it in a gin cocktail - strawberry cordial, some good gin and again a top off with fizzy water, garnish with a strawberry and again, summer in a glass. How's your gardening going this year? I just adore the ...

a sustainable life: Farm To Table
http://livingthesustainablelife.blogspot.com/2012/08/farm-to-table.html
When we were in California the beginning of July, B and I had several opportunities to treat ourselves to nice meals out. For starters, we eat predominantly seafood when we are in California, we can't seem to get enough of it. At the first meal that we went out to on a 'date night' we were disappointed that the food was just so-so. We. I'm afraid I was a bit redundant here, as I was so excited today that I decided to post it here and on Tilting At Windmills too :). Well done, you! Starving off the land.

Cherry tomatoes and regular tomatoes are bushing out nicely. in our climate, we just can't grow tomatoes outsi...

Your Source for Permaculture Design in a Temperate Climate. What is a Temperate Climate? My Birding Life List. In my years of studying about Permaculture, I have often been a bit frustrated with the majority of the authors. They are all living and writing and designing in the tropics and sub-tropics, or are doing amazing things in arid climates. I plan on living in a temperate climate where it snows occasionally where I can’t grow bananas! As Permaculture is about design, just about anything that deals w...

Ramshackle Solid: Beeless
http://www.ramshacklesolid.com/2013/01/beeless.html
Thursday, January 31, 2013. Two weeks ago, we noticed usual activity surrounding the bees. When we went to investigate, we saw our hive was under attack by robber bees. Eric reduced the entrance to the hive. I covered the hive in a sheet. But our measures we no match for the robber bees. Within a day, our six box high hive was an empty shell of the thriving bee metropolis it once was. Posted by Julia Posey. January 31, 2013 at 10:52 PM. I hope you find a new swarm soon. Starving off the Land. Figuring out first-hand food. April 5, 2015. Yeah, it’s been a while. Winter was what was going on here, seemingly for the last several years, and there just wasn’t much to tell. Would you have liked to read about how we had to dig the truck out of a snowbank for the third time that day? I didn’t think so. Also on the g...
