在政府部門中，與濕地保育相關的就有農委會、內政部、環保署和經濟部等單位，早在1980年代，農委會公告指定、管理的自然保留區 19處 、野生動物保護區 17處 與野生動物重要棲息環境 32處 中，幾乎涵蓋了國內具有珍貴物種的所有濕地環境。 而在濱海區域如成龍濕地，也因海水倒灌與地層下陷的雙重威脅，農委會自2005年起，以租地保育的方式，承租了62公頃廢耕的農田，讓土地長期休生養息，並透過許多行動，像是組織社區的濕地巡守隊 辦理濕地經營管理社區參訪及生態解說導覽培訓課程 結合在地居民栽植濱海原生植物 進行自然資源調查與監測等等，預計以10年時間將鹽化農地轉型成為 口湖濕地生態園區。 例如 桃園台地上的埤圳系統，因早年先民開墾蓄水之需而有的上萬口埤塘，讓桃園有 千塘之鄉 的美喻 西南沿海一帶的鹽田、潮間帶的蚵田、海水養殖的魚塭等等都是與人們生活緊密相連的濕地環境。 Tel (02)29332233 Fax:(02)-29332059 服務信箱 service@e-info.org.tw 地址 116台北市文山區萬隆街38號.
1. 什麼是濕地

各個國家、地區對濕地的認定多少有所差異，依據國際拉姆薩濕地公約對濕地的定義 濕地是指沼澤 marsh 、泥沼地 fen 、泥煤地 peatland 或水域所構成之地區，無論是天然或人為、永久或暫時、靜止或流動的、淡水、鹹水或兩者混和，其水深在低潮位時不超過6公尺者。 不過，也有對濕地的認定較為嚴格的，比如美國官方認為濕地需具備以下三種條件之一 (1)必須具有優勢水生植物 (2)在表土下某一深度的土壤必須含水 或(3)在一最低限度之期間或頻率內必須為水淹沒或土壤含有飽和之水。 歸納之， 水文條件 、 土壤條件 與 水生生物 是認定濕地的三個重要元素。 若依是否由人為外力造成，可大致區分為大自然的地理變化而成的 天然濕地 ，以及人類開發而形成的 人為濕地。 天然濕地又可依地理型態區分為 分布於沿海一帶的 沿海濕地 ，與分布於河流、湖泊、高山、平原的 內陸濕地。 這類型濕地也可稱為 鹽水濕地(saltwater wetlands) ，週期性的潮汐是影響此種濕地類型的主要元素。 也可稱為 淡水濕地(freshwater wetlands) ，主要受到附近水域、地下水、雨水等非感潮段之水文影響。
