Robin Hood, Then and Now | The Winding Road
https://windingroad50.wordpress.com/2010/05/31/robin-hood-then-and-now
Just another WordPress.com weblog. Laquo; A Wreck Among the Cars. Robin Hood, Then and Now. They weren’t disappointed. It was clean, non-violent (fatally stabbed characters miraculously shed no blood), and those sword fights! So I thought it very appropriate that on the day of Jeremy’s high school graduation technically the last day of his childhood — part of our celebratory activities included a trip to the Lake Theater to watch the latest cinematic version of the Robin Hood legend. Just another WordPress.com weblog. Archive for June, 2010. June 29, 2010. A few days ago I received a book in the mail from a man who personally knew Hannie Schaft, the young, beautiful, gun-toting Dutch woman who the Gestapo desperately searching for her — called The Girl with the Red Hair, and who Queen Wilhelmina designated, The Symbol of the Resistance. And I feel like I’ve touched a piece of history. Again. I began my grope in the dark. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and Yad Vashem ...

Just another WordPress.com weblog. Laquo; My Summer with Ernest Hemingway. Robin Hood, Then and Now. A Wreck Among the Cars. The light changed. By the time I was able to move, he was beside the car directly in front of me. Before I could even lift my foot off the brake, he suddenly moved in front of my car and pointed his finger at me, shouting angrily, you! He passed by, then proceeded to point angrily to the car stopped in the lane beside me. Feed You can leave a response. From your own site.

Sunday, July 12, 2015. Sailing Down the River 7/12/15. Sometimes spontaneous plans actually work out and a small group gathered at the Waalkes' house for a lovely pontoon boat ride up and down the Thornapple River this afternoon. The scenery is beautiful but we did a lot of gawking at the huge mansions sitting up on the hill, along with their stairways to heaven - eeks! We pulled over in front of the Van Andel mansion so Garret and Ellen could take a dip. 30 second video sliding under the bridge. America...

Miscellaneous Musings: July 2014

Tuesday, July 29, 2014. The weekend I went to Chicago to see Billy Joel and almost came home with a pacemaker 7/18 - 7/21/14 - Part 2 of 2. Saturday morning in Chicago. What could be better? We walked a few blocks away to a recommended restaurant, The Yolk. Our Concierge recommended it and gave us a business card to use if the restaurant was crowded. And Zing! Finally in the afternoon I was transferred to the Cardiac ICU where the paddles and atrophine were a constant presence. Sunday morning brought a l...

Miscellaneous Musings: October 2014
http://miscellaneousmusings-hve.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 26, 2014. It marks its time on earth by resolutely inching toward the sky,. Recording memories, sending offspring into the world,. Never pausing to question its existence. Leaves are let go when the time is right. Still quietly confident, its silhouette now unadorned. Until a thick cloud of foliage is born once more,. And leaning over the asphalt lane,. Watches us go by. Links to this post. Thursday, October 23, 2014. Appreciating Each Moment Thursday, 10/23/14. Each day is a gift. The ce...

Miscellaneous Musings: March 2014
http://miscellaneousmusings-hve.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 30, 2014. A weekend full of friends, family, and food March 30, 2014. Friday started out dismal enough - another snow squall, but it was short lived. Things at work were relatively calm, and two new, awesome volunteers signed up to be part of the Heartside Community. And creativity continues to flow in the Art Studio: Tony with his wildly creative new birdbath, new pottery work by James, and Jane with a cat picture gift for Crash's landing in thankfulness for her newly adopted cat. We walke...

Miscellaneous Musings: April 2015

Thursday, April 23, 2015. Tini Bikini Building, and late sun with Ali and Flowers 4/23/15. The day started with another tour of the recently purchased ex-Tini Bikini Bar, soon to become the new home of Heartside Ministry and Art Studio. I hadn't been in the basement yet due to the dark and lack of flashlights. And here it is - eww! The main floor and the two upper floors looked the same other than water damage that occurred over the winter. The musty smell and bad atmosphere were palpable to everyone.

Miscellaneous Musings: February 2014

Sunday, February 23, 2014. Shaking off the Winter Doldrums. This winter is kicking some serious ass and taking its toll on all of us. With roofs collapsing here and there in Michigan, a local news station did a piece on how to check for signs that your roof might be under stress. Number one sign? Your doors will no longer close. A quick check of the four hallway doors informed us that our roof was indeed under stress. None of the doors would close. The roof raking was not enough. Time for the symphony!

Sunday, June 14, 2015. Cashing in a Dinner Purchased at Auction 6/12/15. The Community, an active church in Ada,. Holds an annual auction raising money for its own mission as well as to support other local missions with whom they have partnered. It's always a great event with much friendly (mostly) competition for certain items. And if there's an offering that includes Billy Norden or Todd Veenstra preparing food, bidding is hot, heavy, and relentless. We were soon called to the table and watched our nex...

Miscellaneous Musings: November 2014

Saturday, November 29, 2014. Major Snowstorm, Day 6 of 6 11/21/14. Finally, it stopped snowing and the driveway was clear enough for me to feel comfortable driving down (though I can usually get down) and confident that I'd be able to get back up. This was my first time back at work since Monday and I took my usual lunchtime walk. Links to this post. Major Snowstorm, Day 5 of 6 11/20/14. Day 5 more of the same, chairs filling up with snow and long-hanging icicles. Phone shot weather forecast. What I thou...

Saturday, September 27, 2014. Reflections on the beauty and brevity of life 9/27/14. It was another lovely fall day today with temps hitting the 70s. We took a walk in the park. But all of our thoughts were on the Engelsman family. Who just lost their wife, mother, and grandmother suddenly from a brain aneurysm. The entire community is shocked. How quickly a life is snuffed out. She was a vibrant personality soon considering retirement. Here's a blurry picture of us at the local theater. We tried a few o...

winding road in urban area
Winding road in urban area. May 02, 2012. I walked the neighborhood at one calling to him and then he came back to our house by the time I reached home. We did have a pink bathroom in Waco. Pink tile on the walls and the floors. A pink bathtub. Our little Boston terrier, Checkers, loved the tub. She would run and jump in while I was in the tub. So tomorrow I am home again, averaging grades and talking to the contractor. Posted at 08:15 PM in Dogs and Cats. This was a very long day. I went out tonight...

Winding Road
Tuesday, October 14, 2014. Not a huge part of the trip, or anything wholly significant or insightful. Just a direct journal entry of an incident I remember well. Where we’re docked. The mosquitoes are particularly bad here at night. That Insightful Part of the Trip. 8220;So what are you running from? The Captain’s question caught me slightly off-guard, but I quickly learned that this was the running joke aboard both ships. Anybody willing to sign up as a volunteer. Tuesday, December 31, 2013. winding road – Humour that's not just aimed at kids
Humour that's not just aimed at kids. September 5, 2016. The candid thoughts of former Premier League referee Colin Preece, as recorded by our eavesdropping mole in the Duck and Peasant. I see we’ve all woken up, then. From the snooze that was the England-Slovakia game, Baz. Load of rubbish, wasn’t it? And all the people who were talking Sam Allardyce up beforehand, about this system he had that the players could fall back on, well it didn’t look like they were particularly inspired, did it? So there we ...
