In 1999 Wirral Riding for the Disabled merged with the Chester Waverton Group and became Wirral and Chester Riding for the Disabled and in common with other groups became an Independent Member of the Federation in April 1999. The main role of a volunteer helper is to lead a horse or to walk by the side of the rider. In cases of severe disability this may involve two side walkers and thus on many occasions three volunteers are needed for each disabled rider. We can always do with more volunteer helpers. Rides at Foxes Riding School. A small group of children with severe learning difficulties and behavioural problems. Some riders need as many as three volunteers to help them ride. A group with a mixture of disabilities. They are very enthusiastic. A group of enthusiastic adults with learning difficulties. A new group of young enthusiastic riders. In 2011 Wirral Archaeology took part in a very enjoyable archaeological project at Caer Alyn hill fort North Wales .Our role was to teach the students how to use geophysics equipment. They used our Bartington grad 601 magnetometer producing some very good results. Students came from far and near, some even sleeping in the roundhouse in this picture .We will be returning to Caer Alyn this summer to complete our survey .
