Tournaments

We hold two tournaments every year, a Longbow Tournament the second Sunday in June and a Record Status Open Tournament on the second Sunday in July. The Wirral Archers Longbow Tournament and Wirral Wand. The Longbow Tournament is a Short Windsor round (3 dozen arrows at 50, 40, 30 yds). Wirral Wand (3 arrows shot at 50 paces). Beginners Courses

Once a year we offer a beginners course, all equipment provided, for young and old a-like. Minimum age 10 yrs. note: under 16's must be accompanied with a parent or guardian at all times. Our beginners course for 2016 is now complete. Email the club secretary if you wish to be included on next years course. Please note that spaces are limited and need to be pre-booked.

Membership of Wirral Archers is by approval of the Executive Committee. Applicants would normally have completed our beginners course. Approval is not dependant on ability as archers, but as suitability as members including general conduct. Completing a beginners course does not mean automatic membership. Please contact the secretary for further information or to make enquiries about membership.

The following rules are intended as a guide to new and existing members regarding current arrangements and expected conduct. 1) Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings (from 6:00 pm) and Sundays are designated club times. See calendar for round start times. 3) To be eligible for the Wirral Round trophy you must shoot all three rounds. 6) Occasionally the Committee may change the Calendar/Shoots etc. Club members will be notified of these changes by a notice in the club hut and/or a notice on the website.

Archery Classifications may be gained and Archery GB produces classification tables for both Imperial and Metric rounds. These tables define score levels for each round which denote a corresponding skill level that archers can achieve. You will need to shoot 3 scores at a particular level to be awarded that classification. Once you attain a certain classification, you can never go back and claim a lower classification. Raquo About our Club. Raquo 252 Badge Scheme. Our 252 Badge Scheme. The 252 badges are awards for achieving a score of 252 at different distances in the outdoor season. Although different bow types shoot different numbers of arrows to achieve the score, the original idea for recurve bows was to get all the archers 36 arrows within the red or gold zone of the target. With 5 zone scoring this would mean if every arrow went in the red it would add up to 252. Start at 20 yards. GNAS Rules of Shooting to apply.

Wirral and Chester Riding for the Disabled (RDA) Group. Our principal objective is to provide disabled people in the Wirral and Chester area with the opportunity to ride to benefit their health and wellbeing at the level of their ability, choice and ambition. In the year ending March 2014 we gave 3021 rides with 249 riders and 150 volunteers from the Wirral and Chester area . They range in age from 5 upwards. In 2011 Wirral Archaeology took part in a very enjoyable archaeological project at Caer Alyn hill fort North Wales .Our role was to teach the students how to use geophysics equipment. They used our Bartington grad 601 magnetometer producing some very good results. Students came from far and near, some even sleeping in the roundhouse in this picture .We will be returning to Caer Alyn this summer to complete our survey .
