TCS Kids' Cafe: The Award
http://tcskidscafe.blogspot.com/2015/06/the-award.html
Friday, June 12, 2015. A long time coming, but here is a short video of Mr. S accepting the Award at the International Motorcycle Springshow in Toronto. Pretty amazing that he kept his comments down to a measly 2 minutes! The sentiments are sincere, and once again I need to thank the crew at the Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group for the award, as well as the Manitoba members who brought our little project to their attention. TCS Kids' Cafe: Mr. Sheppard's Big Adventure
http://tcskidscafe.blogspot.com/2015/03/mr-sheppards-big-adventure.html
Tuesday, March 24, 2015. Mr Sheppard's Big Adventure. As was mentioned earlier, Mr. S got the chance to go to Toronto to the International Motorcycle Spring Show to accept an award for the Kids' Cafe in person. The school division supported the trip financially, and I was able to make arrangements to go, along with my wife. Please click on the link to the right to learn more about the CVMG! TCS Kids' Cafe: April 2015
http://tcskidscafe.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 24, 2015. With the bike completely disassembled, it was time to get out the angle grinder and remove the tabs and brackets we would no longer need on the frame. We used the cutting blade first to remove the big pieces, careful not to cut into the frame itself. While this was going on, Mr. S was fabricating a bracket for the rear brake light switch. A great result. After powdercoating, you won't be able to tell a bracket was welded there in the first place! Monday, April 20, 2015. The rear w...
TCS Kids' Cafe: June 2014
http://tcskidscafe.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 27, 2014. To date (June 27) we have sold 241 tickets. Sales have been pretty steady since we got some great PR with the Minnedosa Tribune and the Brandon Sun. A number of people have been mailing in cheques to purchase tickets. Along with their payments, there has been some pretty heart-warming notes as well. At this rate, we should be able to sell the remaining tickets in the fall, just in time to start our next project. Will it be another Cafe bike, or perhaps a Street Tracker?

TCS Kids' Cafe: January 2015
http://tcskidscafe.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 28, 2015. No session this week as Mr. S in a Professional Development session Wednesday and Thursday. Thursday, January 22, 2015. We did a bit of work yesterday on fitting our custom numberplate/headlight idea. We first needed to take some measurements, and then mark and drill the angle brackets. Steady with the spring punch, pilot hole. A too-small bit chuck was pressed into service by Mr. S, and when it was being tightened, it slipped. Ooops Learn from your teacher, kids! A double ch...
TCS Kids' Cafe: October 2014
http://tcskidscafe.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 29, 2014. In order to accomodate Mr. Sheppard's dentist appointment, the Cafe group met a day early to finish off the front forks. The first step was properly cleaning out the fork tubes. some varsol and compressed air took care of the old oil and gunk still remaining in the forks. It was a bit stubborn. Ready to be re-installed. Next the boys attacked the fork bottoms again, using wet sanding, and scotchbrite pads. Thursday, October 23, 2014. 3rd Time's a Charm. Next step was to remov...

http://tcskidscafe.blogspot.com/2015/04/deconstructin-things.html
Friday, April 10, 2015. Anyone remember Maestro Fresh Wes? With the bike running and all the electrical sorted, it's time to really tear things apart for the cosmetic refinishing. Things moved along smoothly. The start. exhaust first, with Mr. S scrambling to find some decent boxes for storage. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group. Sunday, September 14, 2014. We Have a Winner! Andy Barbour of Winnipeg was the lucky recipient of the Cafe Racer. On Saturday, Sept. 13, the bike was delivered to Andy and turned over to him. He was understandably thrilled, having owned an XS 650 in the past. We had a good visit, talked about old and new bikes, and we reviewed the machine's setup. Andy tries it on for size. and it fits well! Friday, September 12, 2014. The big 'ol box of tickets. Mrs Gilchrist and I get ready to pull the winner. We are a...

Saturday, June 27, 2009. Here is the carnage, so i called around no one had a banshee stator plate. well the dealer had one for $600. yeah right! So i hopped in the car and went to my parents house to rob one off my moms banshee, sorry mom. After a bit of work with the mill and the tig i had it all straightened out. Here it is at like 1000 rpm. To fix the back brake problem i built this bracket that hooks to the lever arm on the drum, from here i hooked a spring to the frame. I 15 on the maiden voyage!
