Diorama Plan: April 2013
http://dioramaplan.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Friday, 26 April 2013. Control is to be simple DC. A number of reasons for this including:. I want to be able to use older locos that may be more difficult to convert to DCC. I would like to use small locos that are not DCC compatible. The layout is quite simple so does not justify the expense. DC is easily converted to DCC at a later date. The sections plan is simple:. The four sections are:. Blue - goods area. Black - platform 1. Red - platform 2. Green - engine shed. Links to this post. Finally all of...

Scribblings from Kashmir Cottage. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Culreoch – The Layout. Monthly Archives: June 2015. June 13, 2015. Anyway. I note the anniversary and I’m sure the other modellers who recreate the Galloway lines’ heydays will also bear it in mind as they work on their layouts. It’s turned out allright, given I’ve never got on with plasticard much before. Rainwater goods would finish it off nicely. It would have been nice to have this mechanically finished as a nod to ...

Llangunllo.: February 2015
http://radnorailways.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Modelling the Western in Mid Wales (EM). Thursday, 26 February 2015. This, that and the other. I've never had the luxury of an airbrush so I just gave them a few passes of white acrylic primer from an aerosol can, left them to harden and turned my attention to adding some slates to the half timbered cottage roof. For a good few years I've been happy to use the Wills roof slates which don't look too bad once all the visible edges have been thinned down but for the cottage I decided to try these. My first ...

http://modelopolis.blogspot.com/2015/06/reaching-for-lasers.html
Sunday, 7 June 2015. Reaching for the lasers. Back from my hols for the time being. I thought it was worthwhile putting anther post together to show you all some of the stuff I have been upto. Firstly on Sunday 31st May I was in Bideford at the North Devon Model Railway Show once again. This time though I took along some of my bits and bobs to show the folk down there. It was a nice little show and the visitors all were nice and friendly. I even made it into the local newspaper there! 7 June 2015 at 20:24.

The Farthing Layouts: Small crates and tea chests
http://farthinglayouts.blogspot.com/2015/04/small-crates-and-tea-chests.html
Small crates and tea chests. I’ve been making my own crates and tea chests from printable veneer. Today I installed them in the goods depot at Farthing. The mezzanine floor at Farthing was used as a storage facility. Traders could have their wares stored while awaiting despatch and distribution. Space was literally at a premium, and this floor was always tidier and more well organised than the busy decks below. This part of the goods depot was inspired by the balcony floor at Hockley Goods. I've experime...

The Farthing Layouts: Wagon propulsion
http://farthinglayouts.blogspot.com/2014/08/wagon-propulsion.html
I've been testing the trackplan for “The sidings”, and got a bit carried away! Jokes aside, there is. A more serious side to this: As previously explained. The layout is inspired by the trackplan at the back of Gloucester Old Yard. This included the very short so-called “biscuit siding” which served a private warehouse through a kick-back arrangement. In GWRJ No. 45 (p262), shunter Hayden Jones explains how the biscuit siding was operated:. In any case, my initial reaction was to disregard these practice...
