New Year, New Growth | Veg Bed Mamma
https://allotmentliz.wordpress.com/2016/01/16/new-year-new-growth
New Year, New Growth. January 16, 2016. So, it has been quite some months since my last post… Life has been busy on the family front, but I have been making lots of plans for the garden. Yesterday I got a little (not so little) 40 plastic greenhouse. At this point most people say ‘why? They’re rubbish and cheap’. Yes, they are cheap, but it’s all I can afford, and the main thing is that they work. Plus, if it rips I have duct tape to hand 🙂 And bricks to hold down the sides. Planning, picking, planning.

Planning, picking, planning. September 16, 2015. So Little Man has started pre-school, this gives me 17 hours free per week. Now, I would have liked to spend most of this last week sorting out the allotment, but with all the rain I haven’t had a chance. Instead, I have been cleaning the house, and planning the raised beds. Any colour ideas would be much appreciated! Being mildly colourblind I suck at picking colours! New Year, New Growth. 5 thoughts on “Planning, picking, planning. ”. I’m not very ...
Finally!, | Veg Bed Mamma
https://allotmentliz.wordpress.com/2016/03/27/finally
March 27, 2016. At last there are signs of the warmer weather approaching. I can’t wait for some sun and warmth, to make me forget the cold, wind and rain. So much has been done since my last post, and yet there is still so much to do. Where to start…. I’ve potted on my Tomatoes and Peppers, bought a cherry tree (it accidentally came home with me! Planted some potatoes, sown some carrots…. And I’ve had some help, even if he was digging the dirt OUT instead of in. Speaking of seeds, I’m driving to S...

Oh me, oh my! May 23, 2016. Errm, what’s it been, 2 months? Life has been busy. So…. We drove to Spain, we drove back. I’ve done some gardening, my mother had a stroke, I did more gardening and haven’t had a single moment to rest! At least that’s our theory, and I’m sticking with it. It was a long old trip, but we had some fun. Laissez le bon temps roulez! Popped into a garden centre in France, and it was gorgeous! Naturally, I had to get some seeds, I also got a jar of flower pollen? And I’m sure ...
Seeds, seeds, and Skirret! | Veg Bed Mamma
https://allotmentliz.wordpress.com/2016/02/14/seeds-seeds-and-skirret
Seeds, seeds, and Skirret! February 14, 2016. Its that time of year, sorting out the seeds. What will I plant this year, what will have to wait until next year…. could I maybe squeeze this in, or that? I sorted through them all, made a list and checked it twice 🙂 I also made a spreadsheet for sowing dates, planting out dates, how long they took to germinate, what the yield is. I want to save as much of my own seed as possible too, so I need notes to know what worked well and what didn’t. So now my seeds...

Polytunnel Action – The Plastic Gardener
https://theplasticgardener.wordpress.com/2016/04/17/polytunnel-action
Learning the perils, pitfalls, and (hopefully) triumphs of Polytunnel gardening. I have realised that there has been no real progress update since Storm Katie did her destructive best to scupper my grow your own plans. Well I am pleased to report that things are going along nicely, thank you very much. In addition, my spring onions are increasing in size nicely, and the strawberry plants in the upright pallet planter are swelling encouragingly. The calabrese are getting all big and lush too. And that is ...

A Man And His Allotment. A newbie to the fruit and veg growing world. Wars Are Formed Of Many Battles. January 7, 2016. I am sad to announce that I have had to give up the allotment. Allotment Man
Digging, weeding, planting, watering, feeding, and hopefully eating the fruits (and vegetables) of my labour on 120 square metres of London Borough of Richmond goodness. Sunday, 25 February 2007. Having spent the entire week feeling decidedly under the weather (swollen glands in neck, terribly sore throat, body aching from head to toe, and feeling constantly exhausted, no idea what that was but at least it's gone now), it was with some trepidation that I ventured onto the allotment today. Nope I don't li...

Keeping my head above the compost heap. Growing seeds – just like having babies, really. Once again there seems to have been an election sized gap between blog posts. Sorry about that.
