Has it really been that long! | Allotment Chick
https://allotmentchick.wordpress.com/2008/07/21/has-it-really-been-that-long
Tales from my lottie amongst other things…. July 21, 2008. Has it really been that long! What a fantastic place to be able to spend a year gardening…which is what I’ll be doing. I won’t have much money for the year, but at least i’ll be spending it learning loads and doing something I really enjoy. Well, that’s all for now, i’m off to spray my tomatoes with some horsetail spray…wonder if it will keep the blight at bay? Laquo; Still leaking! So many, many congratulations Chick! On July 22, 2008.

Multiveg’s plot ramblings on. End of season summary – brassicas. 19 November 2012 at 11:27 am ( Uncategorized. Had mixed success with brassicas this year. Many seedlings succumbed to clubroot, noticed when we were transplanting. Caterpillars were vigilantly removed, and occasionally fed to the goldfish (new acquisition this year for the pond installed last year), cabbage butterfly eggs squished (I wonder how many would be needed to make an omelette! Turnips have been good, although not enough! Address ne...

Asparagus Beetles | Allotment Chick
https://allotmentchick.wordpress.com/2008/06/06/asparagus-beetles
Tales from my lottie amongst other things…. June 6, 2008. Apparently pot marigolds can be planted to deter the beetles as it’s strong scent will mask that of the asparagus, i have yet to try this so have no idea whether it is effective or not. I guess any other strong smelling herbs would also do the trick. Posted in My Allotment. Plant health (Pest and Disease control, Feeding etc.). Laquo; First signs of summer fruit. My friend Mr Robin. trying to grow things: June 2010
http://tryingtogrowthings.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Trying to grow things. Organic gardening on an allotment. Wednesday, June 23, 2010. This visitor appeared when I was filling up the water butt. I've no idea how long he has been in there but the water level was so low that there was no possibility for escape. When the water neared the top I used a trowel to fish him out, fully expecting him to make a leap for freedom. Instead he sat happily on the trowel checking out the surroundings. Organic City Garden: Lollies and the lesser of two evils
http://organiccitygarden.blogspot.com/2007/06/lollies-and-lesser-of-two-evils.html
Friday, 15 June 2007. Lollies and the lesser of two evils. I have a dilemma. Lollies. I love lollies. So much so that they started to impact excessively on our weekly shopping bill and the number of wrappers that I was throwing away began to hurt my green credentials. I was happily munching through 2 a day, recycling the boxes they came in by either sticking them in the wormery. The compost bins or the recycling bin and washing and using the sticks as plant labels. And pure fruit juices! No more asking f...

Organic City Garden: February 2007
http://organiccitygarden.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 27 February 2007. The Story So Far. We bought The Corner House at the end of April 2006. We jumped from 3 bedrooms to 5 but more importantly, from a postage stamp garden to one that is quite substantial for uphill Lincoln. I took it upon myself to dig over a small corner of the garden in our first few weeks here in order to at least get something growing for the table. This is the only photo I have of last year's rushed efforts, taken with my mobile phone so please excuse the lack of quality.

Organic City Garden: Courgette Footballs?
http://organiccitygarden.blogspot.com/2007/06/courgette-footballs.html
Sunday, 24 June 2007. We are going to the USA on Tuesday en famille to stay with Jo's brother and his family. The men are staying for eight days and the women and children for an extra week - am I going to find courgette footballs when I return? With such a proliferation of fruit, I am hoping that a couple of footballs won't matter too much! We should still be able to harvest some at the perfect size. Sunday, July 22, 2007.
