Peak Walks 2: April 2015
http://peakwalks2.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
A continuation of my walking and photographs, see list for past records. Thursday, 30 April 2015. An evening 'stroll' - 7 1/2 miles. After having no choice but to go to Chesterfield during the day, we felt cheated of a walk on our day off. However, with the nights now drawing out, we decided to go out locally for the last three hours of daylight. I'd seen a picture posted on facebook of bluebells in Cumbria. 'That's strange', I thought, 'they're usually at least two weeks behind us'! Then, after crossing...

Peak Walks 2: August 2013
http://peakwalks2.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
A continuation of my walking and photographs, see list for past records. Friday, 16 August 2013. A few sunset pictures. As were were headed over Monsal head top, we paused to admire yet another lovely sunset. We also stopped to look over the hill of Wardlow Hay Cop (370mtrs). The sun dips over the horizon, with Wardlow Hay Cop to the right. Stark pink and black. Now we're past the equinox, the sun is starting to set more and more left. See that tree right of centre? It sets BANG behind that on the equinox.

walkpeaks: November 2012
http://walkpeaks.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
A continuation of my walking descriptions and photos. Previous blogs are listed on this blog in link form. Saturday, 24 November 2012. We turned over from October to November on the calendar, and there was a lovely autumnal scene around Ladybower. Sue decided that was where she'd like to go for our next walk, so I wrote the walk, and off we went. This was our first walk in Derbyshire for about five weeks, due to holidays, work commitments etc, so we were raring to go! We topped the rise, and took the pat...

http://peakwalks2.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
A continuation of my walking and photographs, see list for past records. Monday, 30 June 2014. Shelf-ish, and Overexposed. OK, back to the Derbyshire hills! It's been a while since my last walking post (mainly because I've been concentrating on these pictures HERE. So today, with fair weather and lots of time, we decided to take another shot at it! On the drive there, we stopped, and looking out across the moors, we spied Carl Wark and Higger tor, two other favourite places for this sort of clear day.

Peak Walks 2: April 2013
http://peakwalks2.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
A continuation of my walking and photographs, see list for past records. Thursday, 25 April 2013. A super-perfect day to walk. A relief after having no choice but to work last Tuesday, which was a good day too. We so wanted a good day today to get some air in our lungs and see the approach of spring. The beginning of the walk was slightly marred by the discovery that yet ANOTHER 'wild' car park was being fitted with a tax machine (otherwise known as a pay and display machine). Nelson, and his three ships.

Peak Walks 2: February 2013
http://peakwalks2.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
A continuation of my walking and photographs, see list for past records. Thursday, 28 February 2013. One of the best features of a walk in Derbyshire is the drystone walls. We have some of the most skilled artisans at building walls, and they win LOTS of prizes. They say that if you can wall with limestone, you can wall with ANY stone, because it's so difficult to master. At the national stone centre, Wirksworth, they have a display of many kinds of wall. Think a wall is just a wall? Take a look here;.

Peak Walks 2: Buxton & the Goyt valley
http://peakwalks2.blogspot.com/2015/06/buxton-goyt-valley.html
A continuation of my walking and photographs, see list for past records. Monday, 15 June 2015. Buxton and the Goyt valley. Well, the Gods were certainly smiling on Sue and I - TWO consecutive Tuesdays with perfect walking weather, even more so this week! We were joined by one of Sue's son John, so I decided to take us to the Goyt valley, and take in the ruins of Errwood hall. We met and parked up on the outskirts of Buxton, with the sun already hot, we headed off - 'uppard's'. We hit the reservoir and tu...

http://peakwalks2.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
A continuation of my walking and photographs, see list for past records. Wednesday, 4 February 2015. Snowy Alport Castles from Ladybower, February 2015. A long period since I posted on here, but yesterday was just too good not to share. A walk of 8 miles, with 1500 feet of climbing took us from Ladybower on a quiet Tuesday, up to Lockerbrook farm, then onto Rowlee pastures, our goal, Alport Castles, then across the moors and back down to the reservoirs. Just click 'back' to return to the blog. Deepening ...

Peak Walks 2: May 2013
http://peakwalks2.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
A continuation of my walking and photographs, see list for past records. Friday, 24 May 2013. Lathkill and Bradford dales. We went through the stile that leads to the path upstream, this lovingly restored cottage on our left, with an immaculate garden, complete with lawn stripes. Spring is now in FULL swing in the dales. Most of the wild flowers are cocking a snook at the recent cold weather, and coming out anyway. This flower, Campion, was in great evidence. Looking upstream from the side of the bridge.
