Nothing very exciting but one pair of Gt Crested Grebes have finally decided to nest, same place as last year – a floating nest in the Water Bistort. Cosmeston Lakes Country Park. Map, plan, Info and images of the park. 6-Spot Burnett Moth caterpillar. 4-Spot Chaser by the boardwalk. The above 4-Spot Chaser was warming up on a reed stem by the cafe boardwalk. It was brought to my attention by Gareth Stamp - thanks Gareth! Spotted Longhorn Beetle - Reptula maculata. There are of course species that other observers have seen and these are listed at the end and these bring the total for the site to a little in excess of 200 species! Cosmeston Lakes Country Park. Map, plan, Info and images of the park. Wednesday, 18 February 2015. The only things of interest in a shortish walk this morning were two very smart Greylags on E lake. Also there was the unusual sight of the drake Pintail wandering around on the footpath near the bird table by E lake. Around 30 Swallow and 10 Sand Martin over E lake. 2 Herons W lake. Nesting Mistle Thrush seeing off Magpie.
