Blatherings

Thursday, June 11, 2009. No matter how much anyone convinces you it is. it is NOT a good idea to go to happy hour with your coworkers. Ever. Even if it is the group of coworkers left between the ages of 21 and 27 (and there's only three) and it is NOT a good idea to have more than one beer if you go. We had fun. but the four of us are walking around this place like zombies today. haha. Someone brought in "booze fruit". which is fruit that has been soaking in sangria since last Saturday. Blatherings: January 2009

http://blatheringriss.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, January 29, 2009. Ive been sick. But not super sick- just sick enough to be annoying. Lots of fevers and somehow, a gigantic appetite. I hate being sick. Computer stuff frightens me. I mean, I consider myself pretty savvy when it comes to actually operating a computer but choosing one or building one or having to actually take it apart etc is where I have no idea. So my new goal is to learn more about computers so that I can build myself a new PC. And then I can sell the G4. :) ...A 42-foot spe...

Blatherings: Busy at work

http://blatheringriss.blogspot.com/2009/05/busy-at-work.html

Friday, May 8, 2009. We’re winding down on one of our really large projects at work. It’s a 259,000 square foot addition on Paoli Hospital. You can click here. To see some of our renderings of what the project will look like when it’s complete (or what it should look like if everything goes as planned). I worked on some of those computer generated renderings so kudos to me! So for those of you asking about my work. There it is! Must go scrutinize some shower tiles! Posted by Riss at 12:56 PM.

Saturday, February 13, 2010. Though Lenten sacrifices aren't as emphasized for United Methodists as they are for Catholics and perhaps members of some other protestant denominations, the period before Easter is recognized appropriately by Methodists as a time of reflection, simplification, and mourning.* In recent years my home church, Park Terrace Community United Methodist Church. For example. This combines the traditional Lenten custom of sacrifice but goes a perfect step further to include giving.

Friday, April 23, 2010. Yesterday I waited in line at the bus station for an hour. As departure time neared, the line grew. Minutes before the awaited moment when the bus driver enters through the sliding doors to announce that bus loading shall begin, a young man sets his bag down and stands at the front of line. Without hestitation I ask, "Are you just going to get in the front of the line? The chance that this man missed noticing the substantial line, marked by ropes, is slim. The chance he was ta...

Blathering Nonsense

Tuesday, 26 April 2011. The symbolic and the literal. That is why figures such as Daisetz Suzuki and Kitaro Nishida always trod tentatively in seeking to give expression to this inner aspect and were often deeply ashamed or embarassed by their own words. they viewed them as only "wordly things" and after having bourne this outer aspect through, quickly moved away from and back into the fundamental peaceful awareness. The crux of my difficulties has been not in a lack. Of meaning but an excess. The other ...
