Travels of a Coal Miner's Daughter: October 2012
http://jnkcmd.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Travels of a Coal Miner's Daughter. I slip over the black in expert-tied boots chasing Daddy's red shirt into the darkness and see a whole new world. Monday, October 15, 2012. I am met by an old man in a pickup hauling a trailer with a fancy-dancy quad on it. It has a wind screen. A WIND SCREEN. Seriously? And seriously, what real live person actually has a wheeler like that? Today, no large game. No small game. No chicken game. No game. 3 Place in backpack? 3 Place in backpack? I've crossed the culvert ...

Tuesday, November 23, 2010. Giving Thanks: Day 22 and 23. Like my sister, I too have gotten a little tired of actually writing my thankfulness posts every day.I don't think I will become a professional blogger anytime soon! Yesterday, I was thankful that I only have three days of school this week :) Yay! I want to see one with God.". A different little boy said quietly, "Jesus did everything for us. He did everything for us.". And yes, Jesus did- and I am so very thankful for him. For I am convinced that...

Sunday, May 22, 2011. 1) I am not a very good OR consistent blogger. It's been weeks and weeks since I updated last! I always have grand schemes of posting different things, but I rarely get around to it in a timely fashion. 2) Never try to dye Easter eggs a la Country Living (or Martha Stewart, or Better Homes and Gardens, or.you get the picture). Mom and I had a somewhat unfortunate attempt at dyeing eggs a few weeks ago. Let the fun begin. Eat them," we replied.). Three of our eggs, ready for dyeing!

Saturday, November 5, 2011. The World of Yeast". Of course, I couldn't do this without help. I called my sister to ask for advice on how to tell if water is hot enough to activate the yeast (between 130 and 140 degrees- what does that even mean? I didn't (and still don't) have a thermometer, so I needed a fail proof way of testing water without one. Hilary told me to just let the hot water run until it was uncomfortable to run it over my hand, and armed with this new knowledge, I forged ahead. Stir in re...

Just Joanna: Painting Pictures

Monday, April 4, 2011. But the other day, I was listening to a song. I don’t want to leave here. I don’t want to stay. It feels like pinching to me either way. The places I long for the most. Are the places where I’ve been. They are calling after me like a long lost friend. It’s not about losing faith. It’s not about trust. It’s all about comfortable. When you move so much. The place I was wasn’t perfect. But I had found a way to live. It wasn’t milk or honey. But then neither is this. I know it by heart.

Some Relative Safety (or What Cassandra. Knows) - 130726, Union Hill. Funny how it comes to be this way. And you are asking. 8220;Is this safe? When out the window. Are glimmers of blue and red. Distorted on diner chrome. Which would say “Open. Come on in”. If you could only see from another angle. But you are welcomed already.

Travels of a Coal Miner's Daughter. I slip over the black in expert-tied boots chasing Daddy's red shirt into the darkness and see a whole new world. Tuesday, June 25, 2013. A bit of text from Monday's Write Club. Our teachable activity was to write something Film Noir-ish while writing in a particular tense and perspective. It turns out I am not particularly good at sticking with a tense. I'm no Billy Pilgrim but I read and write so much with non-linear chronology that I tend to drift. And now in the di...

Tuesday, October 4, 2011. Yesterday, I received the email below from my parents' email address. Turns out, it was from my Dad. And now you know why I love him. Apparently, Bianchi Honda thinks I own a Honda Accord. You would think they would keep better track of these things. And, on a side note, Dad was also featured in the Buffalo News. Pretty cool, if you ask me :). Http:/ www.buffalonews.com/editorial-page/from-our-readers/another-voice/article581002.ece. Love you, Dad! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
