Monday, July 29, 2013. This dish has an unfortunately colorful past history but it's a good wuic sauce nonetheless. It can easily be made while you wait for pasta water to boil. 1-2 Tbs Olive Oil. 3 Garlic, minced. 1/2 tsp Red pepper flakes. 6 anchovies, chopped or 1 can of tuna. 1/2-1 cup Black or Kalamata olives. 1/2 tsp Oregano, dried or 1/2 Tbs Oregano, fresh. 28oz can Crushed Tomatoes. Thoughts for Food: ABin5

Friday, January 13, 2012. I'm not eating bread - at least right now anyway. Husband and I are about halfway into the yearly Awakening fast. Sadly the fast doesn't include bread. But I found this bread recipe that I wanted to make right now! So I managed to bully mom and Dan into being test subjects. After two loaves, they don't appear to regret it. Yesterday, Mom and I made the Artisan Bread in Five Minutes. Bread have tons of tutorials on the web. The finished loaf has a nice golden brown color which is...

Saturday, September 05, 2009. J asked me to make some munch-able dessert for the LSU game; thus, the great cookie experiment round 46. Chickpea Chocolate Chip Cookies. 1T cocoa powder - 'cause I saw it. 25c whole wheat pastry flour. Cream butter and sugar. Stir in eggs one at a time, then the maple syrup. Stir in vanilla-cocoa powder. Stir in the chickpea flour, nuts, and chocolate. Lastly, stir in the wheat flour. Bake @ 375-400 degrees for 10-15 minutes. Let cool for 5-10 minutes.

Thoughts for Food: April 2009
http://vicknair.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 16, 2009. I've leveled up some in jam-making since my last attempt - the last strawberry jam being my first jam ever. I was amazed at how much easier it was to make the strawberry jam, now that I have some vague idea of how to make jam. I had six pints of berries so I knew I needed one box of pectin. 6 pints raw strawberries, halved or chopped. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Wednesday, October 28, 2009. Paul and I have this some weekends for lunch, it's fabulous. :). 2-3 cloves garlic, minced. 2/3 c grits (this is really 2 scoops of grits from the white spoon I keep next to the stove). 2-3 T smoked paprika (you want enough to make the grits orange-ish). 1-2 T nutritional yeast. Thoughts for Food: November 2014
http://vicknair.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 30, 2014. I confess I've been neglecting my Facebook account. So Friends-giving kinda snuck up on me this year. During an evening visit with Pippie, I mentally listed the few ingredients we had left at the house and tried to come up with something respectable to bring as my dish. Hopefully for the friends sake, the cauliflower will turn out well. Olive and Garlic Cauliflower. 6-12 chopped cloves of garlic. 1/2 cup olive oil (or butter) and more for roasting. Spread the remaining cauliflo...

Little Tin Man: October 2012
http://tinboy.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
If I only had a heart. Monday, October 29, 2012. Since August, our cardiologist in town has been talking about surgery #3 being scheduled some time around the beginning of the year, at age 2 1/2 or so. He'd been trying to get in touch with Texas Children's Hospital to nail all of that down, but basically all of our scheduling has been expecting the surgery around that time. Posted by Paul v. Saturday, October 27, 2012. I'm a big kid now! 3 days later, I was proved wrong and he was potty trained. I th...

Little Tin Man: April 2011

If I only had a heart. Saturday, April 16, 2011. Well, it's been a while since I last did a generic update. David had his three-month cardiologist checkup on Friday (yes we only see them once every three months now) so I figured this was as good a time as any. And he immediately starts squealing in a quieter voice), and he has also learned to use a computer. He twitters now (@babybabelfish - see button on sidebar). He is pretty funny, if I do say so myself. Posted by Paul v. Tuesday, April 12, 2011.
