Thoughts for Food: April 2009
http://vicknair.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 16, 2009. I've leveled up some in jam-making since my last attempt - the last strawberry jam being my first jam ever. I was amazed at how much easier it was to make the strawberry jam, now that I have some vague idea of how to make jam. I had six pints of berries so I knew I needed one box of pectin. 6 pints raw strawberries, halved or chopped. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Thoughts for Food: November 2014
http://vicknair.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 30, 2014. I confess I've been neglecting my Facebook account. So Friends-giving kinda snuck up on me this year. During an evening visit with Pippie, I mentally listed the few ingredients we had left at the house and tried to come up with something respectable to bring as my dish. Hopefully for the friends sake, the cauliflower will turn out well. Olive and Garlic Cauliflower. 6-12 chopped cloves of garlic. 1/2 cup olive oil (or butter) and more for roasting. Spread the remaining cauliflo...

Thoughts for Food: ABin5
http://vicknair.blogspot.com/2012/01/abin5.html
Friday, January 13, 2012. I'm not eating bread - at least right now anyway. Husband and I are about halfway into the yearly Awakening fast. Sadly the fast doesn't include bread. But I found this bread recipe that I wanted to make right now! So I managed to bully mom and Dan into being test subjects. After two loaves, they don't appear to regret it. Yesterday, Mom and I made the Artisan Bread in Five Minutes. Bread have tons of tutorials on the web. The finished loaf has a nice golden brown color which is...

Thought Factory: Indoctrination
http://ideamuscle.blogspot.com/2011/03/indoctrination.html
Exercising the idea muscle. Friday, March 25, 2011. OR 10 ideas that I want to pass on to my children. So without further ado, brain washing items 1-10. 1 There are no solutions, only tradeoffs. Any time you make a choice, you give up all of the things that are not that choice. It’s the economic concept of an opportunity cost - taking any one opportunity always forgoes another. When you inevitably encounter a problem in your life, understand that the problem is there. The car died, what kind should I buy?

Thought Factory: Indoctrination, part deux
http://ideamuscle.blogspot.com/2011/04/indoctrination-part-deux.html
Exercising the idea muscle. Thursday, April 7, 2011. Indoctrination, part deux. On a totally unrelated note, I have obviously not kept to doing 2 of these a week. The lists themselves have been pretty easy to do so far, but the narratives take more time than I appear to have handy. Hopefully I can keep to at least a once a week posting rate. So here you go, Philosophies that I want to pass on to my kids. 11 Keep a long view of things. Understand the power of time. 14 People are stupid. If one were to ord...
