Thought Factory: Indoctrination
http://ideamuscle.blogspot.com/2011/03/indoctrination.html
Exercising the idea muscle. Friday, March 25, 2011. OR 10 ideas that I want to pass on to my children. So without further ado, brain washing items 1-10. 1 There are no solutions, only tradeoffs. Any time you make a choice, you give up all of the things that are not that choice. It’s the economic concept of an opportunity cost - taking any one opportunity always forgoes another. When you inevitably encounter a problem in your life, understand that the problem is there. The car died, what kind should I buy?

Thought Factory: Indoctrination, part deux

Exercising the idea muscle. Thursday, April 7, 2011. Indoctrination, part deux. On a totally unrelated note, I have obviously not kept to doing 2 of these a week. The lists themselves have been pretty easy to do so far, but the narratives take more time than I appear to have handy. Hopefully I can keep to at least a once a week posting rate. So here you go, Philosophies that I want to pass on to my kids. 11 Keep a long view of things. Understand the power of time. 14 People are stupid. If one were to ord...

Little Tin Man: October 2012
http://tinboy.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
If I only had a heart. Monday, October 29, 2012. Since August, our cardiologist in town has been talking about surgery #3 being scheduled some time around the beginning of the year, at age 2 1/2 or so. He'd been trying to get in touch with Texas Children's Hospital to nail all of that down, but basically all of our scheduling has been expecting the surgery around that time. Posted by Paul v. Saturday, October 27, 2012. I'm a big kid now! 3 days later, I was proved wrong and he was potty trained. I th...

Little Tin Man: April 2011
http://tinboy.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
If I only had a heart. Saturday, April 16, 2011. Well, it's been a while since I last did a generic update. David had his three-month cardiologist checkup on Friday (yes we only see them once every three months now) so I figured this was as good a time as any. And he immediately starts squealing in a quieter voice), and he has also learned to use a computer. He twitters now (@babybabelfish - see button on sidebar). He is pretty funny, if I do say so myself. Posted by Paul v. Tuesday, April 12, 2011.

Thought Factory: Fixing Google Finance
http://ideamuscle.blogspot.com/2011/05/fixing-google-finance.html
Exercising the idea muscle. Tuesday, May 10, 2011. So yea, it’s been a while. And this list is uber dry and boring. It needs doing, though, so I may as well get a boring one that nobody wants to read out of the way after the masterfulness of my first list. When I pull up a daily chart of Apple, the farthest back I can go is 12 months. If I switch to a weekly chart, I can go back as far as the beginning of 2000. Seriously? You are Google, aren’t you supposed to gods of data? No, VXX or any one of the dail...
