After blanking a couple of times at a difficult venue, I decided that a run was in order so a change in scenery saw me at a lake with a better head of fish, albeit smaller size (the largest would scrape 20 in there, with an average size of 8-9lb). After four or five swims, spending half an hour in each one, the rod hooped over and I played what was obviously a barbel, it just hung determined in the current and was dictating where it was going. Eventually over the net, I was a happy man with a pb and January caught barbel of 9lb 4oz. First fish of 2015. 11 January 2015 at 14:16. 11 January 2015 at 14:20. I've decided, whilst the rivers are shut, to tackle a couple of waters that are pretty difficult but known to hold good tench and carp. It finally paid off tonight after a run of 4 blanks, with this tench of 6lb 8oz, a new pb. Now to target a. 9 June 2015 at 12:49. Good old luncheon meat. Still waiting for a tench that size myself.

Wednesday, 16 July 2014. 16/07/2014 - Another nice perch along with a lovely pike. I had another few hours yesterday evening spent fishing the R.Trent with Ian. I myself was using the minnows/slashbait yet again with a few nice results. The tally for that session was 5 fish 3 of which were perch, 1 a pike and a small gudgeon! This Pike certainly liked my minnow as it gave a really good scrap on the Sakura Shinjin baitcast rod I have been using of late. Such beautiful markings on the pike.

I have witnessed Zander being caught on a branded version that cost a fiver each! I managed two perch on the copper one and more hits than I can remember!
