Farm Stand - Leyden, MA. Monday, December 3, 2012. Eggs and Extras - December 3, 2012. Red Garnet and Osaka Purple mustard greens from the hoophouse. 12/2. Red Garnet and Osaka Purple mustard green seeds. Egg production is good, steady and the hens are giving about 2 dozen each day. Someday soon, our 3 young pullets that we bred and raised this summer should start laying. Keep your fingers crossed for olive green eggs! The mustard greens pictured above got eaten here this week and are so good!

Set out 20 Rubine sprout plants. There's room for some head lettuce, arugula and cilantro between the winter squashes. Decided to set the rest of the sprouts in the spinach beds. Lasting Impressions on the Farm. Tuesday, July 17, 2012. Honest, it's nettles! It's that time of year when we start picking and drying nettles, comfrey and other good herbs to dry for the winter. We like to feed our hens nettles and comfrey as a winter supplement. Both are packed with vitamins, minerals and protein. So, for awhile, the porch looks like we are drying dope, but no, no, no!
