My Adventures in Coding. June 19, 2012. C# – Supporting text/plain in an MVC 4 Web API application. Filed under: .NET. 8212; Brian @ 10:50 pm. If you have just created a brand new MVC 4 Web API application and when posting data with content-type: text/plain to a method in your ApiController that takes a string, you notice that the value in the string is null, this is caused by your application not having support for the media type “text/plain”. Using System.Web.Http; using System.Web.Mvc;...I copied the ...

Friday, March 13, 2009. A number of the sessions I've attended here at SD West 2009 cover the same theme: software quality. There are a number of practices that can ensure quality; most of them involve the same thing -. Requirements analysts can build prototypes to get rapid feedback from usability tests before building any code - time frame: hours or days. Developers can write a unit test before each bit of production code to get quick feedback - time frame: minutes. Developers in some languages can use...

Helvetica Emergency: SOLID with Uncle Bob

http://toddsturgeon.blogspot.com/2009/03/solid-with-uncle-bob.html

Tuesday, March 10, 2009. SOLID with Uncle Bob. This morning I attended a course on class and component design by Robert C. Martin. You can read about the SOLID Principles here. But he emphasized a couple of things that would help in applying the principles:. I asked if this conflicts with Domain Driven Design in any way. It doesn't, because the DDD people are still modeling your domain in a fine-grained enough way to satisfy the Single Responsibility Principle. Messy things, like dependencies on external...

My Adventures in Beekeeping | On bees, queens, and stings!

My Adventures in Beekeeping. On bees, queens, and stings! New Additions to the Apiary! August 14, 2015. August 14, 2015. On one of the many beekeeping forums I’m a part of on facebook, I happened to stumble across a post from a woman who was having to sell off all of her beekeeping supplies and two hives due to a severe allergy she had developed. She and I touched base and almost exactly 24 hours later, my husband and I were on a two hour road trip to collect our new hives! In addition to the time of day...

My Adventures In Brewing

My Adventures In Brewing. Exhaustive descriptions of my homebrewing experiences and all my personal thoughts on brewing. Thursday, August 27, 2009. It's now been about a week since my latest "brew two". The pilsner, being a lager and fermenting at colder temperatures in my fridge, is just chugging along at its usual pace, totally normal and happy. I put the towel back over my face and unabashedly drew in a deep breath. Wow - better than Febreeze! The whole experience was quite a surprise, and now I'm won...

¡Estoy en Buenos Aires!

161;Estoy en Buenos Aires! I'm in Argentina for the semester! Friday, November 28, 2008. Anyone that claims that the world is overpopulated has never been to Patagonia. The region that occupies the Southern half of Argentina is bordered on the east by the Atlantic Ocean, and on the west by the Andes mountains, but in between is a vast expanse of nothingness. Our journey, though, took advantage of the southwestern part of Patagonia. The whole two days of hiking were just an incredible experience. On t...

Drinking the Living Water. This is my written testimonial of the adventure I have taken during my two years of mission and now my upcoming years in Seminary you let Christ live though you . Sunday, October 16, 2011. Finding my faith in the Wilderness. For it is written, "Worship the Lord your God, and serve only him.' “11 Then the devil left him, and suddenly angels came and waited on him. AM's Adventures in Cooking

Monday, April 25, 2011. A friend of ours in Texas made this cake and I loved it so much I had to get the recipe. I made it for Easter this year. First you mix together 16 oz of sour cream, 16 oz of coconut, and two cups of powdered sugar. Let this mixture sit in the fridge together for 24 hours. (This is where the patience part comes in). The next day make a white cake mix and bake in two round pans. (The recipe recommends Duncan Hines). Cover with the top of the cake. Printable recipe found here. We lik...

My Adventures in Cyberspace

My Adventures in Cyberspace. Friday, July 24, 2015. My presentation at USGS. I would also like to find a way to standardize the data that I have been working with. Certain regions have greater numbers of sample sites, so when I put this on a graph it may look like an area was affected more than others when in fact it only appears that way because more data was taken from there. Which also creates cool visualizations. I'm excited to continue exploring different USGS data as well as different software.
