The vegetables seemed to look me in the eye and ask me, "When are you going to cook us? Though I like lady's fingers (bhendi/bhendekai) vegetable, I feel lazy to cook it; that's because I need to first remove the gooeyness from the vegetable by roasting it, and then cook a dish. 200 gms lady's fingers (bhendi).

Most of the day's drama happens during the morning, at our house. By 8 am, breakfast and lunch will be ready. For dinner, we eat the remaining from lunch, or make chapatis. On days when I'm unwell, it's time for bread/oats/corn flakes/fruits to jump out of their boxes. My husband loves them; while I run a mile away. 1 and 1/2 cup broken rice. 1 small onion chopped.

The menu had cucumber-tomato raita, eggplant masala, tamarind-coconut gojju, vegetable biryani, a kind of rasam, moong dal payasam, mango-banana-apple rasayana, plain rice, curds. Plus boiled an egg, for Ram. Missed frying papad; but substituted it with Haldiram Bhujiya. :-). So, what did you have for lunch?

What's more fragrant than the aroma of cooked basmati rice? Here is the recipe. 1 cup basmati rice. 1 and 1/2 cup water. 1 cup chopped vegetables of your choice (I used carrots, potatoes, and ivy gourd/thondekai.). 1 large onion (use 1/4 for grinding). 1 inch fresh ginger. 1 tbsp cooking oil. 1 tsp cumin seeds.
