Lutterworth Piecemakers: March 2015
http://lutterworthpiecemakers.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Friday, 20 March 2015. While Lynda's away the ladies will play and we certainly did! The meeting didn't end until almost 10 o'clock. I had visions of us all turning into pumpkins! The speaker was Amanda Hall from monkey buttons. She told us all about how her business started and grew. She went from designing one or two patterns a year to sometimes producing six a month! She now has a catalogue of about 130 designs. That's a lot of bags! This one she preferred as the colours were more muted. The next day ...

Lutterworth Piecemakers: April 2015
http://lutterworthpiecemakers.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Friday, 24 April 2015. At the April meeting we had an array of different workshops lead by members. Bunty showed how to do quilt as you go. Look at her fabulous Blue Peters! She has done a great job here. Sian showed how to make fabric flowers. These are lovely embellishments and can make brooches too. Some people used the evening to catch up with friends - that's what I did! Vicki showed how to do foundation piecing, and brought some cute little Santas for people to practise on. One of the quilts donate...

If you would like to see the kind of thing you can expect, look at the last exhibition. And you'll put the dates straight into your diary! Sunday, 6 October 2013. Unfortunately I couldn't attend the September meeting (I was forced to go on holiday by my husband! Paula bought...

Lutterworth Piecemakers: June 2014
http://lutterworthpiecemakers.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, 29 June 2014. The June meeting was full of inspiration. Jan Baker - a local textile artist - came along and described her artistic progress, from initial concept (which was old manuscripts) through a heritage seed collection to her final pieces which were screen printed and assembled into cushions and pictures. Here is jan with some of her work. The images were taken from old botanical illustrations, and lettering. Jan also generously brought her sketch books to show her thought processes. Everyo...

Lutterworth Piecemakers: July 2013
http://lutterworthpiecemakers.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, 18 July 2013. It was a hot evening, and June's raffle of seaside fabric (plus a teddy complete with sunglasses relaxing in a deck chair! Just hit the spot. The border of the mystery quilt was revealed, and some people had brought their completed quilt centres for show and tell. Gwyneth has made two quilts, one in blues and another in sophisticated turquoise, tan and burgundy. My blocks wouldn't play nicely together, so I substituted a few. So I'm hoping that people have been busy with their mys...

Lutterworth Piecemakers: Heather Jacks evening
http://lutterworthpiecemakers.blogspot.com/2015/07/heather-jacks-evening.html
Sunday, 19 July 2015. In July we were thrilled to be able to welcome The Great British Sewing Bee winner 2014 Heather Jacks. She gave a very entertaining talk about her experiences during the television series, and gave us behind the scenes information. She brought along several garments she had made, and shared the secrets of their inspiration and construction. It was a lovely evening, with quite a few visitors joining us. June had a fun summer raffle, with more sunbathers relaxing on towels. Japanese f...

Lutterworth Piecemakers: January 2014
http://lutterworthpiecemakers.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 29 January 2014. Of course, there are always some people for whom scrappy is a step too far. Despite their best efforts, they end up matching fabrics and colours, as they just can't help themselves! These will be fine with the rest of the blocks. Altogether we made 29 twelve inch blocks, which is nearly enough for 2 Linus quilts! Very good result from just an hour's sewing! Membership has stayed steady, and we were able to accommodate a couple of new people who wanted to join the group. 22nd S...

Lutterworth Piecemakers: May 2015
http://lutterworthpiecemakers.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, 21 May 2015. This month we had the pleasure of a talk by Christine Porter. She is well known in the patchwork world, having been editor of a patchwork magazine and author of several books. She's particularly known for her interest in church tiles, and we were looking forward to seeing her work. Here is a sampler quilt from one of her books, 'Viva Venezia' which has patterns for all these designs inspired by tiles in Venice. It was wonderful to be able to admire it close up. Paula had great fun ...

Lutterworth Piecemakers: February 2015
http://lutterworthpiecemakers.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, 22 February 2015. Di has been attending the two recent sewing days to teach her Santa workshop to those who would like to make one of these gorgeous figures. I know it's only February, but I've heard that Christmas will be round again before you know it! That's certainly true on my past experience! Here's Paula on her pre-warmed seat, making up Santa's coat. I love his gold boots! Sian's week ahead of the game, and just putting the final touches to her Santa, who is very traditionally dressed.
