There is something about taking the time to think . and the aim of this site is to share with you my thoughts as we all move forward into the times ahead. My old blog site at True At The Time I Said It. Hasn't been updated for a year, yet (surprising to me) it is still getting a regular stream of visitors. Was CEO at HP, Tom Friedman interviewed her for his book "The World is Flat: A Brief History of the 21st Century". Ultimately, it's a place to reflect forward. Proudly powered by Weebly.

More on drones and robots. One of the sites I go to often for inspiration and wonder is TED. So - just having posted the note about drones I headed to TED. And found this little gem. Enjoy. Your comment will be posted after it is approved. The information presented here is simply to share my thoughts and provoke thought. If it also provokes action, so much the better. Disruption - Part 1. Disruption is a term that is bandied about a lot these days. We have Clayton Christensen. But we need to look carefully at what we do as a result of choosing to use the word in the context of education. By this I mean "What does disruption mean in the education space? What are some examples? What implications does this have for me in my classroom? In many ways this is a natural follow on from my previous note called "What's Up Doc? Being a maths teacher from way back, though haven't ...

Musings on the future of compulsory education - I. We've often heard that we can't predict what the future will be like in 5 years, let alone 20. Now, this is pretty scary. Because if we don't know what it is coming, how do we plan for it? Or do we even bother to plan for it? Should we just wait and adapt to whatever comes our way? Shall we just accept that whatever comes our way is our destiny and we just have to suck it up, accept it and wait for the next change . and then we do it all over again.

The vexed question of just what is important. What knowledge is of most worth? I've sometimes felt that as rapidly as time goes by, I keep asking myself is what happens in my classroom keeping up with all of the developments that I want students to be involved with. So, this is the general theme of this post. Just what is important today and how might I adjust to deliver this? I was also reminded of the work here in NZ by those looking into "future focussed learning". So, since 2013 has anything changed?

Reflecting English | In search of classroom answers
In search of classroom answers. Planning for next year: subtract three and add three. July 17, 2015. Picture him. For 200 metres he strides ahead, his pale legs pumping like pistons; to the other runners, he is a dot, hitting the second bend as they finish the first. And then, suddenly, mid-stride, he stops. He bends, gripping his right side, wincing. He runs a little. He stops again. And starts. I was that kid on sports day. And, to be honest, I still am. Instead, I propose that we keep our personal imp...

Reflecting God - Embrace Holy Living
The Already and Not Yet. August 13th, 2015. Philippians 1:3-11 Fixing that squeaky door, replacing that outdated ceiling fan, or weeding that overgrown flower bed is satisfying, isn’t it? Completion gives us that moment of, it is finished. Often I wonder if we don’t take on tasks so that we can experience that beautiful and significant moment. This satisfying completion isn’t limited to the tangible world around us. Completion is something that is experienced in the . Find a church in your area.

This is my first week participating in the Project Ten Challenge, a photographers group challenge with a new theme each week. This week the theme is "hair". This is my second little girl, our fifth child and our first to have curly hair. I am in love with her curls! However, she is the most difficult 1 year old I've ever photographed. If I hold her arm to try and keep her still she literally dances in place - she's busy! And #10 like the blur she was most of the time. Jumping back in - literally! This be...
