Running for my Father

Running for my Father. It all started with one marathon for his dad. Now a 2x Ironman the adventure continues. Wednesday, January 22, 2014. Houston 2014, Sub-4! After completing 2 Ironman training cycles over the year I wouldn't call my experience training for Houston "hard." I would like to think of it as "smart! I ran roughly every other day, which included a tempo run, interval workout and a long run. All the markers were there, and I was pretty sure I could break 4. I cruised through the halfway poin...

Running for my Father: December 2011

http://runningformyfather.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Running for my Father. It all started with one marathon for his dad. Now a 2x Ironman the adventure continues. Tuesday, December 20, 2011. Post IM 13.1s. About 6 weeks ago I had the privilege to run with my dear friend Rodney and his wife Joelle as she took on her first 13.1 at the LA Rock n' Roll. Rodney is the guy who saved me from the top of Mount San Gorgonio 3 years back - great guy to say the least! Http:/ runningformyfather.blogspot.com/2008/11/gut-check-and-news.html. Running for my Father: My Thoughts on Lance and Hope.

Running for my Father. It all started with one marathon for his dad. Now a 2x Ironman the adventure continues. Thursday, October 18, 2012. My Thoughts on Lance and Hope. I haven't blogged much the past several years. I've typically reserved posts lately for milestones, like races and other life events - not so much training. But tonight, as I went on my last longer run before the NYC Marathon I decided it was time to get this off my chest. The allegations of doping first really heated up two years ago - ...

Running for my Father. It all started with one marathon for his dad. Now a 2x Ironman the adventure continues. Tuesday, August 21, 2012. The Making of Gorilla-Bam, my bamboo ride! Sawing off one piece at a time:. Geometry traced, tacked together. Mitered joints, first wrap of hemp. Mock build, rear triangle way skewed. Starting over, kinda. Epoxy mixed with bamboo dust. How I made the dust. Tight fit. Yay. 2nd time's a charm. One of 10 rolls of electrical tape. Some of the hemp. The frame in it's glory.

So I've started 2011 well, working hard professionally and physically. Last week I had my first week of structured training since last June (pre-Ironman.). It was my first trip back to the pool and surprisingly felt pretty good! Oh well. It was windy.but I still got first in my age group! Labels: los angeles 13.1 half marathon. My Music on iTunes.

Nala's Quest: January 2009

http://nalasquest.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

My personal thoughts about my obsession with running and its influences in my life. Saturday, January 31, 2009. When Lisa and I got married 11 years ago, one of our first major purchses together was a Siberian Husky puppy. Sunday, January 25, 2009. Week 1 - Check! Well, I made it through my first week of training. Granted it is going to be the easiest week, by far (not counting the taper weeks), but still, I survived without injury, which is my goal as I go through this Pfitz cycle. My next run was on Th...

My personal thoughts about my obsession with running and its influences in my life. Wednesday, December 31, 2008. I've been running now for about a year and can admit that I am addicted. For many years, my first thought in the morning used to be about how the first sip of freshly made coffee would taste in my mouth, but it's now about when I am going to be able to run today. Happy New Year to all! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Rock and Roll Marathon - San Diego 5/31.

My personal thoughts about my obsession with running and its influences in my life. Monday, May 4, 2009. NO MORE SPICY PASTA! I spent the last four days in one of my favorite cities, Seattle. We were up there for a family wedding, and I was able to take a few days off so we could sightsee with Lisa's family. The trip overall was fabulous, with great eats and breathtaking sights. To start off, my brother-in-law got us a steal at the Marriott Residence Inn on Lake Union via Priceline. May 5, 2009 at 9:09 PM.

My personal thoughts about my obsession with running and its influences in my life. Monday, May 11, 2009. We completed the first loop in a little less than an hour, which was a bit slower than I was hoping for. When we returned to the parking area, he stopped to grab another Gatorade, and we were off again. The second loop was about the same pace, but he was now definitely feeling it in his legs. Oh well, either way, I'm done with it. Now it's TAPER TIME! May 13, 2009 at 6:53 PM. May 19, 2009 at 6:13 PM.

My personal thoughts about my obsession with running and its influences in my life. Wednesday, April 29, 2009. Back on the Bandwagon. It's been awhile since my last post for a variety of reasons. Here's how life has been hitting me lately:. Got sick for a weekend - NOT the swine flu. Hosted cousin's family with a newborn for a week (6 kids in all, their 3 plus our 3). Trying not to stress out about my job for next year(teacher's union decided to take a pay cut, which may in the end save my job). Okay, so...

Nala's Quest: Marathon Goals

http://nalasquest.blogspot.com/2009/05/marathon-goals.html

My personal thoughts about my obsession with running and its influences in my life. Sunday, May 24, 2009. It's hard to believe that the San Diego RnR Marathon is less than a week away. I've been eyeing this day for a full year now; a chance for redemption and to truly "run" the race and not just complete it. After. Take the summer off to recover and heal with lots of swimming and a few runs here and there. Use the fall to build up a good mileage base of 30-40 miles/week. This translates to an 8:45/pace&#...

For a shorter version, see previous post. The San Diego Rock and Roll Marathon for the 1st time. Last year, I survived it and ran about 18 miles of it, and had to walk the remaining 8 miles. Nala's Quest: March 2009

http://nalasquest.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

My personal thoughts about my obsession with running and its influences in my life. Sunday, March 29, 2009. Had mentioned in his post about mid-foot strike running. I remember reading in the book, Chi Running,. Book has some interesting concepts that the author truly believes will lead to injury-free running. Maybe if I had focused on that a little more, a few weeks ago, I wouldn't have gotten injured in the first place . . . The next few miles, I fell into a good rhythm and ran them at 8:45/mile pace.

Running For My Existence. Wednesday, May 8, 2013. The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon Weekend. Pain is inevitable and often necessary, how you choose to deal with it determines if you will suffer. Congratulations on your run. I have no doubt it involved a fair bit of pain but hopefully very little suffering (edited). Email from Peter van A. from Needham Running Club. Running For My Existence

I initially launched this website to keep everyone that knows me updated on my progress as I pursued my lifelong dream of running the Boston Marathon. On 04/20/09, I accomplished my goal, running Boston nonstop in 4:45. In the process I lost a significant amount of weight and extended my life, all within a relatively short 10 month period simply by changing my eating and exercise habits. On Sept 30, 2012, I will be running the 2012 BMW Berlin Marathon,. Donation would mean a lot to me, to Jullia and ever...

Running for my life

Running for my life. An ordinary runner going long. Friday, November 14, 2014. Stone Cat 50 Mile. I use this term loosely to mean anything you really want to do that seems just far enough out of reach to seem impossible. Finishing the Stonecat 50 miler was exactly that for me. What worried me the most about this run was what it would be like to recover. If I did actually finish the full 50 miles, what shape would I be in? What about all the training?
