servinginuganda: July 2007

http://servinginuganda.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html

Sunday, July 01, 2007. Safari with the Interns. Each time we drive to the southern part of the country we get to cross the eaquator. You can see that I am standing in both hemispheres. We encountered many wild animals on our game drives, from wart hogs to elephants. We even saw the same male lion twice! Lydia and I are ready for another game drive. Here is some of the crew with our elephant friend. We never had to worry about this one trampling on us :). Here is Lydia and Jennipher enjoying some Jackfruit.

Sunday, October 28, 2007. Hundreds of people came out to show their support in this event, both to walk and to cheer as spectators. If you look closely you can see me and my teammate Pamela among the walkers. My teammates and travel companions Stephanie and Pamela. This group of children were walking in front of us and later they performed durning the program which proceeded the walk. Along the route that we walked many signs like the one above were posted. servinginuganda: September 2006

http://servinginuganda.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html

Friday, September 08, 2006. The picture above is of the road going out of Bundibugyo. You will notice how windy it is because it goes around the mountains. It is the only way in and out of this district. This is the market in Bundibugyo town. I am standing with Pat and Joyce. These are some of my P7 students. It is late in the afternoon and many of them have already left for the day. This is the second to last week of the school term. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Tuesday, January 16, 2007. Better Late Than Never. Every Tuesday afternoon I play basketball with some of the girls from Christ School. It is fun to be able to take them away from the stresses of school and through the ball around. I invited my cell group over to my home for some Mac'n Cheese after our hike to some waterfalls. Michelle with some of the neighborhood kids who like to come and visit. This is the church and community center that World Harvest planted many years back and continues to grow.

Letters of Red: November 2007

Saturday, November 17, 2007. Adventures in Uganda Part 3.Cooking with Fire. Friday, October 26, 2007. Cooking with Fire…You want me to do what? Ordering the people to sit down on the grass, He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up toward heaven, He blessed the food, and breaking the loaves He gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds, and they all ate and were satisfied. But has she ever had such an attentive croud? I kind of felt like a festival queen in a par...

The Other Side of the World

The Other Side of the World. Monday, May 18, 2015. One of the best weeks I have had! This week was one of the best weeks I've had since I started my mission! I really mean it! It felt like miracles were just falling out of heaven and into our laps! We saw some really great success and it made me so excited to be a missionary that I even thought several times about extending. If mom and dad weren't going to pick me up, I think I would! So here's what happened! I love teaching them. I'm excited for her!

Serving in the Sand

Serving in the Sand. Keeping in touch far from home. Saturday, January 3, 2009. Dont Just Wish For a Happy New Year. Last year was good to me, but there was an unnecessary overabundance of ill will. The political realities of a contested election that is some areas also incorporated religious distinctions made the incivility much worse. The economic realities that will be in this year will add to the stresses that are on all of us, some more oppressively than others. Links to this post. Links to this post.

Serving in the Sunlight...

Sunday, August 5, 2012. Well, it's been a splendid week! We also started teaching a new investigator named Daniel. He is a young college student from Columbia (there are so many hispanic cultures here in Gilbert-not just Mexican). He's super awesome! He came to church last week and really felt the Spirit and is super sincere. And he already has great faith in Christ. When we met him he said "So you can help me know more about your church? Blessings, blessings, blessings! Love, Hermana Anneli Hansen.

Jambo Mzungus!

Wednesday, July 21, 2010. If you've been following us on our trip, thank you so much. In our final week and a half, we still have two overnight trips, a decent amount of teaching, a trip north to witness ministry up there, a sports gala, a final service to lead and then our departure. So the youth workers here are getting every last drop out of us, haha. But we're glad they are. We've loved doing the ministry we've been able to do while being here. Thanks for all your prayers and we'll meet again soon!

Serving the People of Iraq

Serving the People of Iraq. Do you appreciate liberty? Well, then, share it. Monday, November 15, 2010. Why Are We Meddling in Iraq Elections? A couple of days ago, Barack Obama tried to dictate part of the outcome of the Iraqi elections. That sounds a bit like something George Bush would have done. Fortunately, the Iraqis told him to go fly a kite. Links to this post. Saturday, July 24, 2010. The Problem With Going Someplace You Should Have Never Gone. Links to this post. Labels: George W Bush.
