Whirling Words: May 2011
http://mywhirlingwords.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Kids at a Wedding. My brother John was married on Saturday. It was great to be a part of the celebrations. Unfortunately for me, I missed most of the ceremony because, well. Three-year-olds aren't particularly interested in people getting married. Moving chairs and fighting over who gets to sit on mommy's lap are much more engaging than listening to some guy talk about love and happily ever after. There were flower girls,. A flower thief,. And sleepy family members.

Monday, April 15, 2013. Pictures: We Actually Did Something! I love how kids choose to pose. These are much better than when I made them stand "nicely." Ben gives the same smile in every picture: closed smile and squinty eyes. Oh, except the first. Wow, I can see his teeth in that picture. I made an Easter skirt! It's just crazy how quickly she's growing. Fifth Grade! How did that happen? Sam's school had a field trip to a rock show. Aaron was terrified of the man walking around in the T-Rex suit....

Wednesday, November 02, 2011. I know it's a bit past Halloween, but I love seeing the kids in costumes. We finally had a scary costume this year and Miriam looks particularly scary here. Thursday, March 21, 2013. Some Snoeshoes and a Yurt. I can't help but post a million pictures. I don't have to say as much that way. I've never camped in the winter, gone backpacking, nor have I ever worn snowshoes. I did all of those things on one short over-nighter with Spencer and some friends. Oh, and this is our first over-nighter without kids since Miriam. That's a lot of firsts in a short time. Oh, our mustached friend. We finally had to request that the smells be made outside of the yurt. It is W...

Monday, October 03, 2011. The Most Wondeful Time of the Year. I love this time of year. The food, the smells, the weather, my birthday. I mean, really it's the best time of year. It helps that I'm coming to the end of my nursing self phase. I'm ready to be me again. That sounds horrible, but I really feel like a different version of myself when I'm pregnant and nursing. Doesn't this picture make you want to eat a tomato like you eat an apple? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). What, are you kiddin'?

Whirling Words: August 2011

Wednesday, August 24, 2011. The sun came out just before the school bell rang. It was lovely. Miriam really wanted a Justin Bieber backpack but I just couldn't do it. We compromised with some Bieber pins to put on her backpack. I'm so glad she didn't like the "Bieber Fever" pins. She said, "I don't really have Bieber Feber." She might, but I'm glad she doesn't think of herself has having it. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). What, are you kiddin'? We got us a family here! Have I Told You Lately.

Smiths in Africa
Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. April 16, 2015. Our family just returned from two weeks in Ethiopia. The first week we took 11 RVA juniors to help with a session of camp at Langano. It was incredible! The students were totally engaged and completely poured themselves out. The missionaries and staff at Camp Langano were so encouraged by them – and we were so proud to bring such a great team to serve there. They really represented RVA well! Here is a link to an article.

Wednesday, January 16, 2013. While we certainly should. Have begun our study of American history with, at the very least, George Washington, our kids continue to be fascinated with the H.L. Hunley and the Civil War. So, since they know plenty about George Washington and the Revolutionary War thanks to Your Story Hour cds. We haven't even talked about the Hunley yet! I think we did spend one afternoon reading the following book (quite possibly the last book we had yet. The event that sparked a unit: the H...
