Classroom Ideas | teachandgrow

https://teachandgrow.wordpress.com/2013/03/04/classroom-ideas

Just another WordPress.com site. March 4, 2013. I want to have a unit clock for every math unit I cover in my class. I believe that visual representations about what student learning is happening in our classroom is great for students to be able to communicate what it is that we are learning. Depending on the visual they may even be able to communicate why it is important for us to learn it. Filed under Community and Inclusion. New Ways of Teaching. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Just another WordPress.com site. Monthly Archives: February 2013. The Writing on the Wall. February 19, 2013. I am so proud of my first graders for completing their first published writing piece of the school year! Helped me understand what the writing conference should look like and more importantly sound like. I realized my conferences were not enough student led. I look forward to seeing the topics these creative first graders have chosen to write about for their How To’s. New Ways of Teaching. The fa...

The blog “one good thing” is worth putting on your blogroll in its own separate folder. Multiple teachers post about one good thing that happened to them that day at school. They are really uplifting! January 28, 2013 at 12:00 am. Pingback: “Final” Blog Post for Winter Quarter teachandgrow. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

School Culture | Teacher in Training

https://teacherintraining11.wordpress.com/2013/03/04/school-culture

Just another WordPress.com site. Reflective Quarter Blog Post. On March 4, 2013. I have been thinking a great deal about school culture lately. John Spencer spends a chapter on it in his book A Sustainable Start. Spencer has a School Culture Inventory. The second reason is the physical layout of the school. There is one building that houses K 2. And a second building that houses 3. Posted in 425/437 Seminar/Technology. 3 responses to “ School Culture. March 5, 2013 at 4:38 am. Ponderings of a teacher in training. February 12, 2013. The New Press, 2012. I have been reading this book called Multiplication Is For White People. Takes time, makes sure you understand. One who enjoys being there. Someone you can find outside for help. One who is willing to learn about you and about new things. A good teacher inspires you and pushes you to the point of no return. Teachers are about occupying us, not teaching us. The bookwork and the tests have nothing to do with us. You are commenting...

GLAD Strategy Meeting →. February 17, 2013. I believe that classroom management is probably the trickiest thing we will grapple with as educators! 8221; It makes for a well-behaved classroom that retains a very positive aura. But it was effective. This entry was posted in classroom management. What a great blog post!

The best lesson | Teacher, Becoming.

https://teacherbecoming.wordpress.com/2013/02/10/the-best-lesson

Teachers at several schools around Seattle have refused to administer the MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) test in the past few weeks. The boycott initially began in December, with a few teachers at Garfield High stating. The administration has reacted cautiously, especially as teachers from many other schools. But what’s the big deal? Why won’t teachers just sit down and administer this one test? Whether or not you agree with a boycott of the MAP test, it is exciting to see teachers coming together to...

July 16, 2011 at 9:54 am. Get yourself a glass and a spoon – hit the glass with the spoon, await silence, thank the class and begin the lesson. Never use a verbal cue for the start, it creates too many sloppy behaviours. Never start while they are still talking. July 16, 2011 at 11:58 am. That classroom has spare time?

One child at a time…. Two very different weeks…. Three weeks ago my CT was gone for the whole week. And I missed her. And I learned a lot while she was gone. I have been teaching math since January and soon I will take on another subject. Then it will be time to take on another subject, and then another, as I move toward taking on the entire day. Picking up | Teacher, Becoming.

https://teacherbecoming.wordpress.com/2013/01/27/picking-up

Without going into detail, my world shattered in late December. Though things have “settled” a bit, I still find myself, in the middle of one task or another, suddenly standing still, wondering “How on earth did I get here? 8221; and “This is NOT where I am supposed to be.” And to be quite honest, I’m having a hard time focusing on anything, from cooking (which I love) to school (which I usually love). Is all about, isn’t it? Tags: A Sustainable Start. National Day of Service. The Power of Please →.

March 3, 2013. I came across a teacher blog in which we described the process of spoon-feeding information and process to students rather than allowing them to explore and discover knowledge on their own. I even commented on a stranger’s blog! What is that fine line between micro-management and self-directed learning?
