Tonya2India... again!

The day started with a trip to my favorite church – St. Francis Xavier, a nearby Catholic church. Completed renovations just after my last trip and was looking lovely on the celebration of Feast Day with streamers and flowers all around the alter. Though the English Mass was lovely (always is), I admit that the best part of being there was seeing Mr. and Mrs. Quinn (my friend Michelle’s parents). Tonya2India... again!: The eagle has landed.

http://www.tonya2india-again.blogspot.com/2009/12/eagle-has-landed.html

The eagle has landed. Tuesday – 8am IST. I wasn’t sure whether to pen another India chapter to my series of blogs. I have been here a few times before… and I don’t have any non-work plans (yet… that is sure to change). But what the heck! After all, these blogs give the parents peace of mind and the nephews show-and-tell content for school… and they give me something to do when I can’t sleep in the middle of the night. Within minutes of my arrival my favorite Masala Dosa (a South Indian rice pancake fille...

They said you were back. Wednesday – 7am IST. US Secret Service) and monitoring and communicating my every move… including when the Diet Coke can has run dry. Many folks at home ask if I feel safe when I travel – and I do. But being here reminds me that I could never be in harm’s way, because if I were out of sight for more than ten minutes, they’d be issuing an Amber Alert! They said you were back. Tonya2India... again!: Cold yoga.

http://www.tonya2india-again.blogspot.com/2009/12/cold-yoga.html

Saturday – 9am IST. This was the first morning of my trip where I don’t have to race into the office to catch meetings with US counterparts, so I “scheduled” myself for yoga! Okay – so today is a big full day. My Retail Diva and her fiancée are picking me up for a whirlwind round of power-shopping this afternoon. (Good thing I did yoga – my energy level will be high! I have a list – it’s the Christmas season, after all! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Tonya2India... again!: Golden.

http://www.tonya2india-again.blogspot.com/2009/12/golden.html

Saturday – 11pm IST. The Shopping Brigade worked hard to keep me focused today – there are so many things to see and do here; the bright shiny objects are a real distraction! We started the day at The Jute Cottage, where I loaded up on souvenirs. I love this little shop – not much bigger than 10x10m, but packed full of fun little things to take back home. So with the souvenirs taken care of, we were off on ‘Mission Coorgi’! December 5, 2009 at 8:19 PM. I love the bracelet! Sue and the 3 Boys.

Tonya2... The Series: Welcome...

Tonya2. The Series. Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness. Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness. To the portal for my collection of travel blogs known as The Tonya2 Series. I started this innocently enough in October 2007 when I made my first trek to India. I knew that I'd see and experience things that I'd want to capture and share with others - and selfishly,. I didn't want to have to share it dozens and dozens of times! Ed (and sometimes gagged). They...

Tonya2 Beijing and Tokyo

Tonya2 Beijing and Tokyo. I can't shop here! JMRH - one last 'Hello Kitty' snap for you. Saturday – July 17, 4am. And it was absolutely fabulous. I bought a couple of ‘me’ souvenirs – an apron and a really nice knife that matches the other I bought at this market a couple of years ago. I was back to the hotel by 7am – time for a quick nap before I head out to Ginza for an hour or two of browsing (tooooo expensive here to shop! Thursday – July 15, 5pm. I know this is a delicate subject. but WOW! I heard b...

Wednesday, February 20, 2008. PS All luggage arrived intact. I'm home free now! Last Day in Beijing. My guide, Rina, said we had seen the whole city… She said if I had stayed another day, that we’d have to go out to the ‘burbs to see how the non-city folks live… We started the morning late since there were only a couple of stops on the itinerary – which was fine by me, as I had packing to do. So – here’s the silk story. After my silk shopping soiree (and a soiree it was! As in: “Like my new pearls? They ...

Tonya2ChIndia...again!

Tuesday 20-April (9pm): Handlers. This one is for Mom and Dad.). People often ask if I feel safe travelling alone outside the States, and I often respond that I’d have to try REALLY hard to get into trouble because I have so many handlers watching after me. Last night was a good reminder of just how ‘guarded’ I am here…. Tuesday 20-April (11am): I dropped my pants and he nearly fainted. He turned pale and started speaking excitedly in Hindi (or Kanada? Sunday 18-April (5pm): I do it myself! It’s no...

Tonya2ChIndia - Aug2010

I arose early – lots to do… and the party continued. Though it wasn’t on the breakfast buffet, the team scrounged up a gulab jamon and brought to my table. Who would have ever thought Bangalore could be a little piece of Heaven? We returned to the hotel for dinner. Sareen joined us and he and we enjoyed a fabulous lamb and prawn dinner along with another reunion with my Baluchi Boys. There was a ton of traffic at the hotel – for a birthday party for a two-year old! These people sure know how to entertain!

Sunday, November 2. Home - with friends. As if I weren’t spoiled enough alreadddddddyyyy! I was treated to an absolutely incredible lunch at the home of my new friend Shalini. Lovely home, complete with a housekeeper that works 7-4 e. Following an afternoon of laziness, we were prepped for another shopping excursion. The math just doesn’t add up: Michelle and Shalini aren’t “double-trouble” – they’re something on the magnitude of 1E 20! So first we were good girls, going to. Oh, how I love India. 8211; a...

Tonya2 India - April 2012

Tonya2 India - April 2012. Thursday - April 27. All work and no play the last two days. Things have been HOPPING here at the office. It's now time to leave my beloved Bangalore and I struggled to say goodbye. These guys have been like extended family the last four years and I began to miss them before I even headed for the door. If the shoe fits. Clearly, they have been awaiting my return to launch the new line of bling-shoes named in my honor! Tuesday mid-day - April 24. First to Raja Bangle for a year'...

Tonya2India - June2010

National State of Emergency. Wednesday - June 23, 9pm. Me better (and the spiral gulab jamons would make me feel. Better). I had wait staff telling me they'd pray for me when they did their puja last night. You'd think The Dalai Lama was on his deathbed! Staff have begged me to go to the hospital. Never fear, Mom, a hospital over here is the equivalent of walking into a Minute Clinic in the States. Remind me never never never to get ill over here again. But if has one bright side - I. I'm loved. :-).

The LaLit Ashok - Transformed! The hotel has been ablaze with activity this week in preparation for the big anniversary celebration on Friday night. Thought I’d share some pix of the preparation – a new stage and dance floor built over the pool, the glass walls removed between two of the restaurants turning everything into an open-air bar, and I love the one of Lobo all dressed up (more than normal) to greet the guests. Those men can dance! Monday morning – Nov 15, 5am. Heaven help my staff today. I ...

Thursday, October 25, 2007. The flight home was uneventful – except for the fact that there was no one in the seat next to me, which is always like getting an early Christmas gift. They did misplace one of my checked luggage pieces – but it was delivered to my house 4-5 hours later. Many have expressed interest in my photos. I have posted all of them to Picasa. If you’d like to see the entire portfolio, they’re available via the following link:. Http:/ picasaweb.google.com/TonyaJLong. Last Day in Delhi.
