Grey fantail nest building, Phillip Island birds. Grey fantail, Phillip Island. Such a song - often heard but I'd not watched one singing close up before. The bill really opened wide for the highest silvery notes at the end of each song phrase. I think I might build something of greatness .". About a metre off the ground. What's good on TV?

Red-capped plovers nesting, Observation Point, Phillip Island. Red-capped plover Caharadrius ruficapillus. Pizzey describes the nest as a scrape in the " sand, shingle or bare ground; scantily lined with shells, stones, plants". This nest then, must be some sort of mansion! The usual summer collection of birds at the end of the spit. I missed o...

Yellow-tailed black cockatoos, Clarendon Homestead, Tas. A passion for birds...: July 2014
http://smissen.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
A passion for birds. Of bird photography (mostly) in Australia. Birds of the Bellarine Peninsula. Saturday, 12 July 2014. A morning on the Lake Erie shore. Long Point beach, Lake Erie, Ontario, Canada. Even though I come here a lot, it's always a little weird to be at a beach like this on a freshwater lake. The Great Lakes are so large that they have their own tides (albeit small) and at most places you cannot see the other side of the lake. Caspian Tern, Long Point, Ontario, Canada. Links to this post.

Panga heading for Kicker Rock, Isla San Cristóbal, Galápagos.

Sunday, November 16, 2008. Fat cakes feed the birds, and save your drains. If you want to save yourself the expense of calling a plumber, one thing you can do is collect your used cooking fat, and pan drippings instead of rinsing them down your sink. Putting cooking fat down your drains is for the birds, well it should be. This winter why not use your collected fat drippings to feed hungry birds. 2 c of melted fat 2 c. corn meal 1 c. peanut butter. Friday, March 28, 2008. Http:/ www.tbgf.org/. Urban Oasi...
