Fiddle For Breakfast: November 2008

http://fiddleforbreakfast.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

Thoughts on Old-Time music, playing the fiddle, the lap dulcimer, and other topics as the desire arises. Thursday, November 20, 2008. Coffee and Dance This Weekend. In addition to this being the last chance for people to see the play that I've directed for West End Players. I'm also playing a dance on Sunday night with the Mound City Slickers for The Childgrove Dancers. I should also mention that my other band, The Hot Baloney Boys will be playing this Sunday morning at The Hartford Coffee Company. But i...

Colorado River Bird Survey: March 2009. Posted by ardeidae on March 09, 2009. This trip was part of a monthly survey of the Colorado River corridor between Austin and Bastrop. It takes place the first Saturday of the month and is led by Claude Morris (who also keeps the detailed lists as seen below). If you're in the Austin area and want to join in, let me know. Birding on the water provides a great perspective and beautiful scenery. Hope to see you on the water! Report by Claude Morris. Page 1 of 1.

http://fiddleforbreakfast.blogspot.com/2009/04/kim-and-jim-lansfords-new-cd.html

Thoughts on Old-Time music, playing the fiddle, the lap dulcimer, and other topics as the desire arises. Monday, April 13, 2009. Kim and Jim Lansford's New CD. Late last week the mailman dropped a copy of Kim and Jim Lansford's. Keep Your Eye Upon The Sparrow. Into my mailbox (thanks, Kim! I've only had a chance to listen to it a couple of times, but I can say, it's pretty durn. Remains one of the best multi-instrumentalist string players around. So far, stand out tracks for me are "Sal's Got a Meatskin.

Fiddle For Breakfast: October 2008

Thoughts on Old-Time music, playing the fiddle, the lap dulcimer, and other topics as the desire arises. Thursday, October 30, 2008. Those who know me know that I'm rooting for Barack Obama in my own socialist-lefty-leaning way in this upcoming election. Here're some other folks who feel the same way. For those friends who aren't as familiar with the music, the tune they're playing is "John Brown's Dream". One of my all-time favorites. Wednesday, October 22, 2008. New Live Theater Adventure. Fiddle For Breakfast: Back from Springfield & a video

http://fiddleforbreakfast.blogspot.com/2009/06/back-from-springfield-video.html

Thoughts on Old-Time music, playing the fiddle, the lap dulcimer, and other topics as the desire arises. Sunday, June 21, 2009. Back from Springfield and a video. We (the rest of the Mound City Slickers and I) made it back from our road trip to Springfield, MO in the heart of the Ozarks, where we played a dance last night. Had a real good time having Chinese food for dinner and playing for a small, but enthusiastic crowd. Of course, having Debi Harp call the figures for us was a treat! Folk School on TV.

Sunday, November 16, 2008. Fat cakes feed the birds, and save your drains. If you want to save yourself the expense of calling a plumber, one thing you can do is collect your used cooking fat, and pan drippings instead of rinsing them down your sink. Putting cooking fat down your drains is for the birds, well it should be. This winter why not use your collected fat drippings to feed hungry birds. 2 c of melted fat 2 c. corn meal 1 c. peanut butter. Friday, March 28, 2008. Http:/ www.tbgf.org/. Urban Oasi...
