A long journey of wonderings. February 20, 2011 in Photography. I have been studying quite a bit about photography lately mainly for a writing project I am working on. However, the more time I spend researching this subject, the more I like it. I am not sure why I haven’t been more interested in photography before. My father is an amateur photographer, you’d think I’d have figured out I liked this stuff sooner. Here are a few to start with (In no particular order):. Never put your camera down. This i...

A long journey of wonderings. Buffalo River Trip 2010. February 14, 2011 in Nature. The weekend before Memorial Day 2010, I found myself in a canoe floating down the Buffalo River in Arkansas. It was my mother’s attempt to show me how wonderful the state really is. She recently moved to Arkansas and I was still in denial. When she announced her moved a year before, I asked her why on earth would she want to live there? I continued to ask her why? In this case, her powers were a good thing and while I wil...

A long journey of wonderings. March 17, 2011 in Uncategorized. I’ve been having trouble writing lately. I noticed I had the same problem last Fall as well, but I think this one is a bit worse because I’ve developed an obsession along with it. I can’t call this a writer’s block. I mean, I know what I want to write. I’ve even outlined it, roughly. It’s more of a. I usually end up pissing someone off or pushing someone away. I wish I could just put up a sign:. March 20, 2011 · 12:38 pm. Up early, steaming porridge, in a large white plate. Brown sugar, real cream, off the glass bottle top. Dash out the door, first day can’t be late. Down by the dairy, for the Bus I will wait. Bus comes along, diesel smells full to the brim. No seats to be had, so I stand in the isle. Breathe cigarette smoke, as we go the six mile. Walk through the gate, hats and pipes, on all that I see. First pay that I get, hat and pipe were on me. March 19, 2011 · 11:30 am. Spread your wings...

Musings of a Canadian in Far- Away Lands. Back in The Sewing Room. March 28, 2015. I have been away from my blog for quite a while. So much has happened here, and while I keep thinking about writing, and am alway taking photos with this in mind, the fingers have not been connecting to the blog writing. I guess that now is the best time to begin, so here goes. You can see the knots in it. I’ve been working on its using circles and ovals as well, and am amazed at what you can do. Time here has been busy, w...

Veni vidi vagari.
I came, I saw, I wandered. Sunday, June 14, 2009. Congrats Angela and Ali! I went to my friends' wedding yesterday. They are expats; Angela is British and Ali is from Cote d'Ivoire/Burkina Faso. The wedding was a very simple, short ceremony at a city hall type place, followed by a short reception in a friend's nearby garden, and then a picnic on the beach. Friday, June 12, 2009. Photos of a different sort. I have some of my own critiques, but constructive criticism/feedback on these (or others) is welcome.

The Wandering Railfan
Wanderlust and the steel wheel. Thursday, February 19, 2009. I was in Coshocton the other day, working on my computer when I heard the OC blow as it roared through town. Figuring it was the local headed to Newark, I finished what I was doing, and headed out. I needed a lunch break. After a while I heard an air horn, and the engineer flashed his headlights at me. I don't know if he was warning me to back up or just seeing if I was still standing around, or some other reason entirely, but I moved back ...
