Veni vidi vagari.

I came, I saw, I wandered. Sunday, June 14, 2009. Congrats Angela and Ali! I went to my friends' wedding yesterday. They are expats; Angela is British and Ali is from Cote d'Ivoire/Burkina Faso. The wedding was a very simple, short ceremony at a city hall type place, followed by a short reception in a friend's nearby garden, and then a picnic on the beach. Friday, June 12, 2009. Photos of a different sort. I have some of my own critiques, but constructive criticism/feedback on these (or others) is welcome.

Veni vidi vagari.: October 2007

http://www.wanderingrachel.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

I came, I saw, I wandered. Monday, October 29, 2007. This is where I live. Here are some pics I took. Hope you enjoy. In search of settled. I'm at the point where I wish I felt more settled here. That I had a group of French friends, had fully figured out where I'm going to volunteer and what I'll be doing there, found people to sing/play music with, and could actually have sustained, meaningful conversations in French. That is my day job, after all. So I should probably post about it. I'm teaching kids ...

Veni vidi vagari.: December 2007

http://www.wanderingrachel.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html

I came, I saw, I wandered. Saturday, December 29, 2007. Portugal: Lisboa and Sintra. I am currently about as far west in Western Europe as you can get, in Lisbon, which is probably about 20 km or so from the Atlantic Ocean. (I think that Anglophones are the only people who call this darn place Lisbon, by the way, its known to the Portuguese and many others as Lisboa.). More later, but if I don't write before then, happy New Year everyone! Monday, December 24, 2007. Well, there is more to say but I´l...

Veni vidi vagari.: Misc Dakar thoughts

http://www.wanderingrachel.blogspot.com/2009/06/misc-dakar-thoughts.html

I came, I saw, I wandered. Wednesday, June 10, 2009. Some misc. thoughts I had earlier but never got around to posting). Everything happens outside or partially outside here. This is a combination of different ideas of public vs. private, the climate being amenable to outdoor activities (often preferable to the inside) and also lack of infrastructure for more permanent, indoor or just adequately large enough indoor structures. If you're wondering about the hand gestures, I have somewhat grasped a few, bu...

Veni vidi vagari.: February 2008

http://www.wanderingrachel.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html

I came, I saw, I wandered. Sunday, February 24, 2008. Next I headed to Izmir, to stay with a Turkish friend of mine and her family. I met Irem while we were both volunteers in Belgium at the refugee center. It was great to see my friend again, and to meet her family, who were all very kind and generous, despite the language barrier. Irem actually lives in a town right outside of Izmir. Yet, unlike an American suburb, it is very well served by public transit. Buses, minibuses, and shared taxis&#46...Prett...

wanderingquilter | Musings of a Canadian in Far- Away Lands

Musings of a Canadian in Far- Away Lands. Back in The Sewing Room. March 28, 2015. I have been away from my blog for quite a while. So much has happened here, and while I keep thinking about writing, and am alway taking photos with this in mind, the fingers have not been connecting to the blog writing. I guess that now is the best time to begin, so here goes. You can see the knots in it. I’ve been working on its using circles and ovals as well, and am amazed at what you can do. Time here has been busy, w...

The Wandering Railfan

Wanderlust and the steel wheel. Thursday, February 19, 2009. I was in Coshocton the other day, working on my computer when I heard the OC blow as it roared through town. Figuring it was the local headed to Newark, I finished what I was doing, and headed out. I needed a lunch break. After a while I heard an air horn, and the engineer flashed his headlights at me. I don't know if he was warning me to back up or just seeing if I was still standing around, or some other reason entirely, but I moved back ...
