A day old black-necked stilt begins to explore his world at Green Cay Nature Center in Boynton Beach. We first spotted the nest on May 9. Hard to say exactly how long it had been since the eggs were laid but judging from incubation times, and when they hatched, it couldn't have been more than a few days earlier. The first chick has hatched. The date: May 25.
