i really love crossfit | anna in med school
http://annainmedschool.com/2014/04/30/i-really-love-crossfit
Diving in head first and writing what i can. Anna in med school. I really love crossfit. John took the video above last week. The weight is light and my form could be better, but it feels good to be able to get the weight up at all (partial credit, of course, goes to my 25-lb rugrat who insists on being “up-ah! Sunday’s WOD was particularly heart-warming (can I describe a workout as “heart-warming” or just “heart-burning”? Despite my initial skepticism (it’s a cult, it’s a goddam cult! Soon… →. 8230;] di...

Diving in head first and writing what i can. Anna in med school. Apparently, I am a Master of Bioethics! Thrilled John woke up at the ass crack of dawn to fly home from San Diego just in time for the ceremony:. Many, many thanks to Lance and Autumn for creating this unique opportunity for us:. If anyone has seen a UVA diploma, you know my Penn ones are going to be dwarfed by them! Family comes in tonight (must mop our toddler-destroyed floors! And tomorrow an MD! So many exclamation points! Sorry, your b...
october 17, 2012: ari’s birth story | anna in med school
http://annainmedschool.com/2013/03/29/october-17-2012-aris-birth-story
Diving in head first and writing what i can. Anna in med school. October 17, 2012: ari’s birth story. Is evidence of your insanity! I remember the day our daughter was born, one of the best days of our lives, in flashes, the majority of which are absolutely comical; some of which are altogether terrifying. John will argue that I was likely in early labor most of the 16. What am I supposed to do, now? It was about 3:00am, and I thought I was going to be seriously ill. I trudged my big belly to the bat...

Diving in head first and writing what i can. Anna in med school. Evelyn: a birth story on a birthday. Evelyn. Our sweet, pure-joy second born is a year old today. Someone once called her an old soul, and that rings true to me, for reasons I can’t fully articulate maybe because she always seems more patient, tolerant, and observant than the rest of her crazy family. Even in birth, her story starts with that of her sister’s. Aurelia was born unusually quickly. I did try to make it to crossfit. If anything ...
gratitude | anna in med school
http://annainmedschool.com/gratitude
Diving in head first and writing what i can. Anna in med school. So much of what I want to write are words of thanks. It took a whole heck of a lot of willpower to not devote my first several posts to individual loved ones–no offense, but that might make for a pretty boring blog. Don’t worry, the profoundly mushy, albeit completely sincere, love and appreciation notes will filter out gradually. For now, thank you readers, especially:. 6 Responses to “gratitude”. The Continuing Adventures of (E)PB and J: The Things We Keep
http://epbandj2.blogspot.com/2014/01/the-things-we-keep.html
The Continuing Adventures of (E)PB and J. LONDON 3: SON OF LONDON. Friday, January 3, 2014. The Things We Keep. If you read the last post, you may have noticed that "blog more" was NOT on the list of things to accomplish in 2014. That's because I make that vow to myself so often that it is almost a joke. It's like flossing. I want to, I know I should, sometimes I even get around to it, but sustaining such behavior quickly proves untenable. So, no resolutions for me. The problem is, what to write? On my f...
Plans: hands
http://plansandlaughs.blogspot.com/p/hands.html
This is the tragic timeline of the demise hands/life. Between April and June 4th. I hold my hands in flexion and then extension for 30 seconds. No results. Then he has me do it fast, holding for 1-2 seconds each time. Immediately, the tingly/numb feeling is in my fingers on my right hand. (Pinky and thumb excluded.) He tells me that it's carpal tunnel syndrome, not MS. I feel better but I'm annoyed there's something wrong with me. Diagnosis of carpal tunnel syndrome is made. Upon reflection that I'd had ...

The Continuing Adventures of (E)PB and J: August 2012

The Continuing Adventures of (E)PB and J. LONDON 3: SON OF LONDON. Wednesday, August 1, 2012. At this point, I should tell you.I'm a complete Olympics fanatic. Between the two I skew slightly more towards the winter games (a brief youthful flirtation with figure skating and a surprising indifference to foot races can account), but, regardless of the season, when those rings start appearing I start having heart flutters and my dormant patriotism/love of sport spectatorship is awakened. Healthy Living for Real Life: Eating locally and seasonally: farmers' markets
http://healthylivingforreallife.blogspot.com/2013/03/eating-locally-and-seasonally-farmers.html
Healthy Living for Real Life. Eating locally and seasonally: farmers' markets. Have you ever noticed that fruit and veggies just taste better when they're in season? Or that they taste better purchased from that little road stand than at the grocery store? For the last few summers I've started a habit of binging on fresh, ripe peaches from May-July when I go to our local farmer's market (If you're in Atlanta, Pearson Farm. Peaches are the best I've ever eaten and apparently they will deliver out of state!

Siete semanas en Kolkata… for the moment. Tomba de la madre teresa. Abril 22, 2011. I DO NOTHING HE DOES IT ALL. Els pajaritos es van enviar tots junts a japo, ara per sort ja no fem mes! Corre un rumor que el govern...

Anna in la Belle France. Living in France (and teaching English too). Saturday, June 5, 2010. The last week in Orléans was busy and stressful, so the blog was put on hold. Since being home, I've had time to finish my post about Ireland and the South of France as well as posting my thoughts on leaving and my joy of the French seasons. There are 3 new posts below and I'm currently working on one about being "on the other side". 160; Will I feel the same? 160; It’s a big question. . Some of the Seasons.

Adventures in Mali!
Wednesday, August 26, 2009. The Toughest Job You'll Ever Love. Before I left for Mali, I heard Peace Corps described as “the toughest job you’ll ever love”. Boy is that true. From language barriers to cultural differences to being a replacement volunteer to staring starvation in the face to feeling completely inept and useless to loneliness and homesickness to anemia, giardia and heat rash, the last two years have been far from easy. But. The sky – extraordinary sunrises, sunsets and starry nights. Walki...

Diving in head first and writing what i can. Anna in med school. I’m a doctor. I graduated from medical school this past Saturday–surreal, to say the very least :). To be honest, I was a bit of a nervous wreck during the ceremony…not that I would trip or, for some reason, not receive my diploma, but that my poor kids wouldn’t make it through the 2 -hour ceremony. Ugh, they were troopers, as were John and my brother Stephan who were tasked with entertaining them. 8220;Dr. Anna Jesus.” And we...Almost exac...

Real Life, Maybe
Real Life, Maybe. Thursday, December 2, 2010. My 80 year old prof in his raspy old-man voice was talking to us about grades today:. I should tell you all about the time a student approached me, and said. 'I have problems.'". That's not all. Then she said 'I'm bipolar.'". Then she said 'I have a drinking problem.'". Astounded at this point]. And finally she said 'I'm suicidal and if you fail me it'll be your fault that I kill myself.'". What did you say? Innocently] "I didn't say anything.". But I know, I...
