Are these skittles the best idea? | psud02
https://psud02.wordpress.com/2013/03/18/are-these-skittles-the-best-idea
A blog about the Science of Education…. Skip to primary content. Are these skittles the best idea? March 18, 2013. In my last few blogs I’ve talked about different types of motivation, all the while ignoring some of my personal experience. I’m sure (or at least I hope! We’ve all done what I’m doing now for every 50 words, I can have a skittle. This for me is my main motivation to do this blog, in direct contrast to what my previous blogs have stated! Negative Punishment something positive being taken away.

A blog about the Science of Education…. Skip to primary content. Internalisation, and why it matters. March 4, 2013. Deci, Eghrari, Patrick and Leone (1994) identified two types of internalisation introjection and integration. Which involves taking in a value or regulatory process, but not accepting it as ones own. The regulation is assimilated with one’s core sense of self’. All of this research points towards the importance of encouraging intrinsic motivation in students, and an integrated approach to ...

A blog about the Science of Education…. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. And now, the end is near…. April 22, 2013. So, the end of Science of Education – and to be honest, I have mixed feelings. I also wasn’t ready for the talks, as a serious weakness of mine, I dreaded each and every one, and I don’t think that the experience helped in any way – but that is more a problem of mine than of the module. We chose to be here, let us show you what we can do! Thank you, Jesse. April 15, 2013.
Synthesizing….. | psud02
https://psud02.wordpress.com/2013/04/15/synthesizing
A blog about the Science of Education…. Skip to primary content. April 15, 2013. In my last four blogs, I have discussed different types of motivation, and the effect that they could have on education. So, firstly I’d like to just recap what I’ve covered (if only for my own sake, it’s been a while! But what if someone’s intrinsic motivation does not point towards education? Although I don’t think that this approach to the improvement of education is one which would revolutionise a system, I think that te...

Grades are Up | Science of Learning 2013
https://sciol13.wordpress.com/2013/03/19/grades-are-up
Science of Learning 2013. Science of Education Coordinating Blog 2013. Your grades are finally up. Good job. I have really enjoyed your blogs this week, and I’m not going to mention the ones I thought were great, because the list is getting too long. There is one that I will mention however, more because of the discussion and thinking behind that than anything (the blog was great as well). That is Sarah’s blog. That said, looking forward to Thursday, and then the Easter break! March 19, 2013. You are com...

Science of Learning 2013. Science of Education Coordinating Blog 2013. Final Blog (except for your reflection). I can’t believe it is over again. Good job. There were some great syntheses, however, there were far too many lists of what you had covered in your previous blogs. A synthesis needs to highlight what has emerged in your thinking as a result of having done all this research. For too many of the blogs, it was just a recap of what had already been covered. Alec's Science of Education Blog. Getting an education was a bit like a communicable sexual disease. It made you unsuitable for a lot of jobs and then you had the urge to pass it on. – Terry Pratchet. Week 4 Factors affecting children’s school education Lets make schools more informal! I have decided to make my theme factors effecting children’s school education, this means I can fit all my previous blogs in and it’s something I am keen to explore, hopefully it’s not too broad! February 25, 2013. So what is stereotyping, how is that related to the education system and what effect does that have on individuals and society? Conformity in Lectures | Science of Education
https://bethseducationblog.wordpress.com/2013/03/11/conformity-in-lectures
It seems that conformity has its advantages and disadvantages. It will allow a lecturer to teach a large group with ease due to students conforming to expectations of quiet note-taking. It will also allow for control but is that really necessary for university students. To me the disadvantages of conformity are much more detrimental to learning and it may be worth steering away from large groups in order to reduce conformity. Groups, leadership and men. Through the implementation of SDT principles, schools may be able to offer something to all students despite their background: inspiration. Even though this may not expand into all areas of life, it is a fantastic starting point and seems to have a strong effect on even the most unwilling to learn. Jang, H., Reeve, J., Ryan, R. Just another WordPress.com site. Skip to primary content. Should the teacher be replaced with an X-box console? March 3, 2013. As I have decided to discuss the use of technology in classrooms, this week I am going to consider the effects that video games have on children’s education. Could the use of video games actually improve a child’s education and cognitive development? Or are the critics correct in stating that they can be extremely dangerous and excessive play should by all means be avoided? This ...
