Anna-Lisa Smile: Rotational Grazing in Nevada
http://anna-lisa-smile.blogspot.com/2013/11/rotational-grazing-in-nevada.html
Sunday, November 3, 2013. Rotational Grazing in Nevada. I have mentioned before that my husband-to-be is starting a sheep dairy. Yesterday,. I posted about doing the chores while he is away. Aside from hauling water to the pasture they are grazing, my other job while he is gone is to let them eat more of the pasture. We use a system called rotational grazing. Basically we give the sheep a certain amount of grass to eat each day and then move the fences so they can eat another piece. A Dairy Goddess's Blog.

Tuesday, May 25, 2010. Swingin' Ropes, Mulehide and Paint? The 3rd weekend in May marks a special event for Calaveras County. It is the weekend of the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee. This longstanding tradition has welcomed spring for several decades. In fact it began when the main street of angels camp was paved for the first time! Then they stretch out the calf and one of the ground crew guys or gals comes behind with the branding iron (dipped in paint) and paint brands the right rib.

Tuesday, April 27, 2010. Bulls and Boys By Kristen Odom. Wednesday, February 17, 2010. The cattle industry has taught me a lot about life. Everything from responsibility to life and death, cattle are good teachers. In a conversation with my dad, I recently discovered that dating is a lot like finding a good herd bull. Step 1- Identify Herd Goals- Herd goals serve as the foundation for sire selection and provide guidance as to traits with the most relevance. The joy of this last part is that it doesn̵...

Anna-Lisa Smile: March 2013
http://anna-lisa-smile.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 11, 2013. So I'm in the process to moving into the most adorable farm house. Well, it will be adorable when I'm through with it. It's got the necessities: good bones, a beautiful view and a homy vibe. What it lacks is LOVE. As you can tell from these before pictures, the house could use a fresh coat of paint, new flooring (which will have to wait) and some junking. I'm going to have to work with the green carpet. for now. Thursday, March 7, 2013. A few notes about living in the desert:.

Anna-Lisa Smile: #LambWatch14 - Light At the End Of the Tunnel
http://anna-lisa-smile.blogspot.com/2014/02/lambwatch14-light-at-end-of-tunnel.html
Thursday, February 20, 2014. LambWatch14 - Light At the End Of the Tunnel. We recently counted the ewes that haven't lambed yet and there are only around 60 left! About 20 of those are smaller framed yearlings and will probably end up open, which means they won't have lambs this year. Therefore, the long days and sleepless nights are nearing an end ad I have a new found respect for mothers of infants. What is the winter like on your farm? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
