April 24, 2014. Blogging with First Graders. After quickly showing the first graders in my class how to make a post to our brand new science blog, I was a little concerned with how this little experiment of mine would go. Even with the simplest of platforms that I could find, there are so many steps and I could see their faces filled with confusion and concern while I showed them how it would work. The students are catching on quick, and the process is going really smoothly! More to come…. March 13, 2014.

Month: November, 2013. November 24, 2013. When is the last time you heard someone tell you, “you matter”? When is the last time you told someone they matter? Do you think this is an important thing to hear? Think of an answer in your head, then watch this TeD Talk. By Angela Maiers. Now tell me whether you think it is important. What if people told others that they matter more often. So my challenge to you is to tell at least one person that they matter every day, and to mean it. November 17, 2013. If ar...

Month: February, 2014. February 22, 2014. One of the schools I have been in, which to my knowledge was the lowest income school I have been in, was the best at drawing on its community support. They utilized all of the supports in their community to help their school families in any way needed. They connected families with cultural centers, affordable housing in the area, and almost any other support that was needed. February 15, 2014. Knowing your students: just how important is it? How do you know if all of the work you put into creating a classroom community has worked? February 6, 2014. 3 Comments to “Classroom Community”. February 8, 2014 at 7:52 pm. Seeing students doing something like this all on their own must have been the most heart warming thing. This is a clear sign that you and your CT have created a community in the classroom. To me, this also shows an awesome love and excitement for reading! Has anything like this happened from what you’ve seen at other times?

What on the world is going on in there? As I dropped my students off for music class on Monday, the music teacher asked if my cooperating teacher and I could come back a little early so that the kids could show us what they have been working on. Of course we came back and I am so glad we did! I have seen how busy the classroom teacher is, and I’m sure the specials teachers are just as busy. Is it realistic to talk with all of the specialist teachers or visit their classes? March 8, 2014. I’m thinki...

I actually wrote this post right after when I found out that I am getting a job. I was just waiting for things to be official. It’s been a while( couple of months) , since I have written a blog. I have been actively reading other educators blogs though. Why didn’t I write one, even when I had more than enough time on my hand? It’s gonna be 10 years next year, since I finished my bachelors and came to U.S. Yup, that’s a LOnnng… time to be working on one goal. May be which is ...PS: I will be moving to ano...

Just another WordPress.com site. Teaching is Like a Contortionist. Reflective Quarter Blog Post. This quarter has been full, eventful, exciting, demanding, tiring. I could go on and on. So how have I grown at being public as a teacher since January? I must admit that, this quarter, I did not take the time to comment on outside blogs. Of course it is a degree requirement, but I was eager to see what it contained. From the beginning, I know time management was a crucial aspect of online courses. Teacher In Transit | Teaching, Travelling, Living Abroad

Teaching, Travelling, Living Abroad. September 4, 2016. We woke up early for a complementary breakfast before getting in the van and heading towards Dubrovnik. Our host was absolutely great. He drove us to an old underground hanger that was several kilometers long. He was one of only a few stationed there during the war and he drove us in the pitch black through the tunnel. The first thing we did was head out to do a walk around the city walls at sunset. It’s hard to describe just how impressive it i...

Teacher in Transition | An old school teacher trying to enter the new world order

February 25, 2011 · 7:59 pm. Where Do I Go From Here? I don’t know when I became the enemy. But it isn’t about education; it’s about money. States need to cut funds and teacher make easy targets becasue the rhetoric politicians use is so easy to buy into. Tell me one teacher you respect that doesn’t want what’s best for students? One teacher that thinks believes teacher’s needs trump student needs? We believe in everything they are saying…but. What they are saying isn’t what they are doing. Shoot…r...
