This large Forsythia was found growing beside a small lake here in NC, spring 2002. The shrub was covered with soil to the first major bend or 8 up from the base. Several years ago, my side of the family gave up doing gift exchanges (except for the kiddos) and instead we each take a turn picking an organization and all donating to it. I love this…especially since buying gifts is stressful to me. This year it was our turn, and we chose Operation Christmas Child. Parenting older children takes more energy and interruptions to sleep for the past year from pregnancy and a newborn have called for extra videos and book sessions on the couch to make it through the day!
